Decent Sound, but flimsy wires

Bought these in December of last year. The sound you get with these in-ear headphones is decent but my complaint is that the wires are flimsy. To operate, you loop the wires over the back of your ear lobes. It's here where the wires get frayed over time. It only took three months for this to occur. Great thing is that I sent them off to Shure and they sent a new pair but I can tell the same is going to happen with the new pair as well.

In preparation for a flight, I got these for the noise canceling properties. They work great. Later I purchased the iPhone adapter for them. The adapter works great too

To me they have no bass at all, I don't know if it is that they don't fit my ears or what, but I don't like them at all.

not sure if this applies to you, but many people who find a lack of bass in in-ear style phones dont put them in right. you have to insert them like earplugs, ask someone who served in the military, all soldiers know how to do this properly. these things go in scary deep. as long as it doesnt hurt, your fine. also, if you use any of the silicon tips, try to moisten them before putting them in.

ok, this is kind of gross but mine stopped on the left channel because it got clogged with ear wax. I never had any problem with flimsy wires though

I've had these headphones for well over a year and have had absolutely no problems with the wires, although it was a weird style at first. The sound quality is amazing - guillo98, I recommend trying the different size earbuds that they came with until you find one that fits well. The foam ones are best - squish them into the headphones as much as possible, then put them in your ear and let them expand.

Bought mine in Oct 07 and the wire has gone recently. Only used couple times a week.

Bought in January and have used 40 hours a week, with no problems. Shure have recently changed the cable material form PVC to thermosplatic elastomer which is like a rubber which does not crack. I had a pair of JVC marshmallows with the same type of cabling, they resist sweat a lot more than PVC cabling, which is generally crap.

If these phones have no bass, you aren't using a big enough sleeve. I use a large flex sleeve with a medium foam stuffed inside them for max isolation.

i really enjoy these phones. i switched from etymotic er6, and if anything the wires are much stronger. i think i might have gotten the ones with the new material, i cant really tell, but they are the sturdiest cables i ever had with in-ears.

I got these very recently and love them. I like the fairly flat response that you get. You really get to hear the music and not just booming bass. I recommend them for anyone and everyone.

These are great. I bought them almost 2 years ago and thrash them because I bring them to class everyday. The cable has stood up to everything I've thrown at them and is like brand new. I use the foam tips for the best sound isolation and comfort. For those who don't think these have bass, you're on crack. The bass doesn't have head throbbing impact but it is lush and tight. Listen to some cello or guitar and tell me they don't have bass.

I have these and they sound great, especially if you play around with the EQ settings on you iPod. The only problem I have with them is when I listen to more "calm" music or spoken word I hear a thump everytime I take a step. Maybe I'm wearing them wrong... I believe the thumping sound comes from when the cables are being pulled with every step I walk.

I bought mine in February 2008 and I use them under my MC helmet 5 days a week. They are great!

Great IEMs (especially for the price) but I agree... the cabling is bad. Mine broke after a year of daily use and now, under a year after replacing them, the cabling has given out again.

Too bad...

I bought these headphones about 2 years ago and unfortunately lost them in Italy while on vacation. These headphones have the be the best ones i've purchased though, especially for the price! I haven't came across any better one. Also if your having bass issues true different ear buds that come with the headphones or purchase different ear buds and make sure to insert them in correctly. Someone came across some good headphones in italy.

Same here, the wire is horrible. I would love to see an active marketing campaign about improved cable before I buy again from Shure. For the money, I can't beat the sound.
