Could it be any less attractive?

I'm sorry, I'm just not loving the design here. The past Aliph devices were nice and sleek, but this one looks like you're wearing a domino on your ear. Shouldn't these things be moving more into an organic-looking style, as opposed to super sci-fi?

Maybe it's a personal preference, but if I'm wearing a bluetooth headset, I want it as inconspicuous as possible.

I got a BLACK The Thinker. I like (and wanted) The Hero but because I get a corporate discount on accessories from AT&T, I couldn't resist buying from AT&T corporate premiere online store for much less.
AT&T has an exclusive black version of The Thinker (instead of the light wheat color.) So at least I was able to get black.

I have to say, now that I have it, I think it's very attractive! My initial reaction to some of them was "yikes, heck no." But each to his own. I know ladies that love gold will like the Bombshell, maybe someone likes The Rouge because it fits their artsy style. Not for me, but I'm sure someone loves them. I think the mere fact that all look ugly except the one we like proves the point that Aliph did product research and targeted 6 designs to 6 very different tastes.

I just picked up the Hero (Best Buy exclusive). It's really a lot smaller than I thought. It's all black and the divots add some texture without making it stick out like a sore thumb. Compared to the 1st gen Jawbone I had, the size is a big improvement.

I kind of like some of them, and kind of hate the others. But I believe that's what they were going for, 6 radically different designs to appeal to different people. Also the thinker is pretty darn close the previous models so I wouldn't say it got worse.
I believe these look a lot more subtle in person and they look really small.
I do like the new power switch. My prime is always turning itself on by accident in my pocket.

Harry McCracken over at the Technologizer did a good review of these technologizer.com/2010/01/17/jawbone-icon-finally-... .

But what I want to know is: when will we have and in-ear communicators that you can barely see like they have on TV and in the movies? Remember that episode of The Office?

I still like my original Jawbone. Too bad they stop selling replacement parts after a few months.

What? Veronica, that's absolutely ludicrous.

There aren't any 18-circle dominoes!

In all seriousness, I wouldn't say it's totally ugly. I mean, Bluetooth headsets in general stick out like a sore thumb, but the two tone gray scheme is what irks me most. Black and gray? I'd rather it be all black.

Why doesn't someone make one that's clear? Like see-through-clear.
Other than that, I think it looks kinda cool.

I could go for clear, even if you could see the components inside that would be kind of neat and cyborgy.

Yeah. Where did the cyborg-trend go?

Two/three words- GameBoy Advance.

Really? These are still BY FAR the least-fugly bluetooth earpieces on the market, and I'm sure the bumps that look so visible in this marketing shot will be almost indistinguishable in real life.

Their competitors have giant blinking blue LEDs, giant mic booms, huge star-trek looking batteries, etc..

I've seen it in person, the bumps are hardly indistinguishable from the rest of the headset.

Ok - You do not like this particular design. You are entitled to your opinion, but don't shoot down the whole line, as there are five different looks/designs to choose from for this particular headset. Do none of them appeal to you?

Looks aside, I'm really digging the tech in this headset and already made my purchase (I went w/the domino! - lol). I own a Jawbone 2, and skipped on the Prime, because it was not improved enough to warrant its replacement - this one added enough to get me interested...

I would have went w/The Ace, or The Rogue, but they just seemed like fingerprint magnets. I polish my phone every chance I get, so the fingerprints on this one would have driven me crazy!
