clicky screen defect?

yesterday my n97 screen started to make a clicking noise when i press on it near the center. It feels and sounds as if the layers of the resistive screen are slightly sticking to each other when I press down, and then are unsticking themselves causing a bit of click noise when i release. very annoying and kind of disturbing, as it makes me worry that the screen could be wearing out.

has anybody else experienced this same problem?

I noticed this happening this morning, but the apartment was *dead* silent and I don't hear it in any other environment (yet?). I'm also hoping it's not a sign of a digitizer problem to come.

mine is audible even in a slightly environment. only when i touch the bottom 3rd of the screen. so far no problems with the digitizer though

I'm not sure if that's normal for resistive screens or not. I don't think it should be happening this soon though since the N97 isn't an old device by any means. Boy, quality control really seems to have sucked on a lot of the N97s -- first the camera scratches, then the screen noise, and there's a hell of a lot of creaking noises with that shoddy battery cover.

I wouldn't even consider the N97 anymore, since the N97 Mini seems to have fixed most of those issues. The metal battery cover alone for me is worth picking it over the normal N97. I don't even care that it has a smaller storage.

yeah, there have been a bit too many defects on the n97. i'm getting a bit of creak on my battery cover, and i'm going to send it in to get the camera glass scratch fixed (at least nokia has owned up to this one and will fix it under warranty).

the n97 mini does look appealing with that metal back, but i just don't know if i can justify the smaller screen. 3.5" on the n97 is really nice, and at the screen res it seems that anything smaller would make for some difficult screen clicks while web browsing without zooming constantly.
