Buy now or wait

any one have any insight on sling's product roadmap? This has been out there for a while and I want to upgrade my old sling a/v but not sure whether or not to pull the trigger.

Any advice?

I don't believe they've announced any new products, but they could always come out with something in a year or so...

This is a solid unit though so I don't see how you could go wrong. Each new Slingbox is only a marginal upgrade over the last usually.

BTW, if you have a Mac then you should know that they have been promising an updated version of the software for ages with no actual release in site. While the Windows version is 2.something, the Mac version is 1.something and does not take full advantage of the PRO-HD. Also, they do have an iPhone app, but it is $29.99. That's way out of the norm when compared to other video streaming apps.

I have one of these and love the idea, but their execution, at least on the Mac, has been disappointing.

Follow-up to my last post. I just tried the beta of the browser-based player for the Mac. I could not get it to work properly with Safari 4 on Snow Leopard (even after trying the workaround they suggest), but it does work with Firefox. I've only played with it for a short time, but so far it works reasonably well and the picture quality is great compared to the version 1 software.

Can't wait to try out browser interface, sling software on Mac is poor at best.
