Bluetooth vs IR remotes

This is the first non-IR remote I've ever owned and at first it annoyed the crap out of me. Now I love that I can be wherever doing whatever and it will transmit my commands. It pretty convenient. The worst thing about the remote by far is that any button press on it will turn on your PS3 when its in standby. Just a power button would have sufficed...

Agree. Personally I love the fact that I can hide the PS3 behind the TV and still have total control since I use it as a media player more than a gaming platform

It eats batteries like a dog. That's the only downside.

Really? I have had the remote for a while now and never changed the batteries... Are other devices worse or what?

I love the Bluetooth remote. Have you seen the device that converts IR to Bluetooth so that people can control even the PS3 with there universal remote. I wish that things would be made the opposite way. I wish that there were companies that were making Bluetooth receivers that had IR blasters that went to all other devices. I love that I don't have to have line of sight for the remote to work. I would love it even more it it worked for every thing.

I have had mine for two plus years now and only replaced the batteries once so I don't think the thing is a battery hog.

I don't see that ever happening....

the PS3 IR-to-Bluetooth adapter only works for Harmony branded universal remotes too

I would like to see Bluetooth remotes, i use an RF remote for my dish DVR and i hate using theit for IR to change the actual tv volume

Now with Harmony, I'm glad 95% of stuff uses IR.... (and anything with IR is in Logitech's database which programming a breeze...)

Thing i hate about the stupid remote is since it's bluetooth if i hit a button by accident when it's not pointed at the ps3... it cuts the ps3 on.

So now i basically have it somewhere where i wont' hit it and it's not convenient at all :/

* you might say then don't hit it... and if you did you'd be lame ;)

I wish all remotes were BT! Or RF! I love the fact of not needing line-of-sight! I lay on my sofa and my wife LOVES to but stuff like wooden fruit in a huge bowl on the coffee table! I then need to hold my hand up high to hit my components which have the IR lower than her wood fruit!

When I play a Blue Ray in my PS3... no pointing, no worries.

I agree, sometimes I wish that it had a real on/off button instead of having to hold home. The eject button is awesome, though.
RF so worth the hassles. It should be standard technology in TVs.
