Best advice for iPhone dropped in water?

I accidentally dropped my iPhone in the toilet last night! I grabbed it right as it slid in there, only hit the water for a fraction of a second. Instantly shook it off and toweled it dry. Turned it off and immediately jammed it into a bag of uncooked white rice because I've always heard that helps.

I checked it this morning, 12 hours later, and everything seemed to actually be working great. The only problem seemed to be the mute/silent switch was acting up. I turned it back off and left it in the bag of rice again all day today.

Did I do this right? What are other's experiences with iPhone 4S dropped in water? If the phone takes a turn for the worst what are my options? I've heard Apple will replace it for $199, but what are third party repair options? Who do you guys trust?

Thanks!

Here is the best advice for dealing with a piece of electronics (smaller) that gets dropped in water.
  1. Remove the device from the watery substance.
  2. Turn the device off.
  3. Try to dry the device off as best you can with a towel.
  4. Fill a bowl with uncooked white rice.
  5. Completely bury the device in the uncooked rice.
  6. Wait for about 12 hours (or over night).
  7. Remove the device and power it up to make sure that all the moisture was absorbed.
  8. Cook the rice and make dinner? =p
This has worked for me a number of different times and a number of different friends and family who have had similar issues.
