Awesome

I loved this MP3/CD player. For its time it was awesome to be able to hold so many songs and be able to swap so easily. The best thing about this player was its remote. Truly a work of genius. If only iriver would re enter the HDD MP3 player market we would get some proper competition for the iPod.

true, but in the flash market they are making some beautiful players, the p35, for example

They had it. Even with similar remotes. They failed. I wish they were still around though just so I could buy one again and get really annoyed about how excellent the hardware build was and how badly the firmware / UI was executed.

In Discmen though they only had Sony for serious competition, and since Sony were doing pretty much the same thing but with less geek, iRiver fared better among tech enthusiasts.

For me the iMP-550 was my favourite MP3 Discman, followed by the Toilet Seat (the iMP-400). The 350 was very first-gen and had a few issues. In general though I so do not miss MP3 Discmen - nightmare to get material on, keep track of, etc.

I loved this thing too, by far the best CD player I have ever had or seen. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get mine to turn on in forever, so I think it might have died. It was awesome though.
