Unfortunately my partner dropped his iPod Touch 4. Fell flat, face down from shirt pocket onto concrete. It still worked but the screen didn't survive the fall. I took it to Los Gatos Apple Store to a Genus. The genus, without any hesitation, in a one time gesture of good will, replaced the unit!

I have read and hear many stories like this. Not all have this outcome and I don't quite know what the criterion is. I was ready to talk about my history of purchases with Apple but I didn't even need to bring that up as a talking point.
