Apple doesn't own iPad.com
Not sure why this just occurred to me now, but I was curious to see if Apple happened to own iPad.com, and as it turns out they don't. Not sure if they're planning on acquiring it or not -- Apple doesn't necessarily need to own the URL -- but a company called Enero 6 Corp. owns it (they first registered it in 1997), and I'm sure is going to make a killing off of it one way or another.
I'm really surprised they don't already own the domain. Don't think they'll have a hard time getting it though, as they have upwards of 40 billion dollars on reserve. Apple loves consistency, so not having ipad.com will be seen by them as a net loss for consumers seeking out apple products online.
Only comes to show that perhaps should have called it a different name.
Yeah Peter thats interesting that they don't own it. But even if you type in "iPad" now. iPad.com isn't anywhere to be found, it is likely it will never attain even a fraction of the number of hits that the Apple website will get, it might not ever even make the first 10 pages on Google ever AGAIN Again again {{echo}}... plus its a cancer research website I doubt people will confuse it - then again maybe this is a decoy site, hmmmm.
BTW I've followed you guys for several years and I love what U guys are doing with this website - Keep up the incredible work, you & Ryan inspire so many kats.
