Anyone think we'll see 3G added to the next gen iPod touch that comes out this fall?
I remember hearing people asking for something like this when the touch first came out, but now Apple actually has a product with this functionality. The iPad of course has a version with 3G that's contract free and data-only and I could definitely see them taking a similar route with the touch.
Probably not since it would directly compete with the iphone since it would undoubtedly have AT&Ts 3G. So the touch will probably never have 3G and it would be a horrible business idea for AT&T and apple to do that.
At best, you MAY get a camera/video, a faster processor, better battery and more screen real estate.
Adding 3G capabilities makes it too likely to compete against the IPhone on one end and the IPad on the other. A lot of people only bought the IPhone because they wanted an IPod Touch with 3G. Get used to the IPod Touch being constantly inferior to the IPhone, that's how marketing and product differentiation works....
