Anyone else digging the new Chrome browser for Android 4.0?
Just installed the new Chrome browser for Android, and so far I'm really liking it. The browser in Android has always been a bit underwhelming -- which created an opening for third-party offerings like Dolphin and Opera -- but even though it's still in beta I've been impressed with both the UI and performance on Chrome for Android. It feels like a big step forward.
just searched the android market place I cant download nor is ti available to me all I get when searching "google chrome" is Google chrome to phone either Verizon or HTC have blocked me from chromeness sad day
I think this is because originally the browser was part of the Android OS install, now the google apps are all upgradeable via the Play store, splitting the browser off to the Chrome browser team means that Android and Chrome OS and desktop Chrome Browser can all get support for new features at roughly the same time all from the Central Chrome team.

you would think so but on my android the browser is something called internet 2.3.4 what browser it actually is or based off I have no clue perhaps its HTCs or Verizon's mobile browser
Not true. If you're running any device with ICS I believe you can grab it.

I have an Samsung Epic 4G running Cyanogen Mod 9 alpha 1, and it works great. Synced my desktop favorites and everything. Feels like it renders pages quicker and better than the stock ICS browser. I previously used Dolphin Browser HD when I was on CM7, but now that I'm on ICS, I'll be sticking with Chrome (pending any major issues that may pop up).

I was able to install it both on my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus S. As long as you're running ICS and in the United States, I believe you should be able to install this.

sucks Im still at 2.3.4 thanks to verizon and HTC I doubt Ill ever get ICS might be time to root this phone
I installed firefox and was greatly disappointed with its performance and feature set on my droid incredible II and as a result I went back to the stock browser that came on my HTC droid. I look forward to a more in depth review of the android chrome browser maybe that will make the grade,
I'm really loving it. The feature that lets you access tabs you have open on your desktop is really, really nifty. I love how easy it was to import all of my settings (bookmarks, history, etc...).
The only thing I miss are the "Quick Controls" Labs option that was present in the stock browser. I apparently became very used to just sliding my thumb on the left or right of the screen to bring up tabs, address bar, and settings. That's the only thing I'd like to see worked in.
I was also concerned that my bookmarks widget would only work with the stock browser, but it gave me the option of defaulting to Chrome once I click on one of my marks.
Really glad they came out with an Official Chrome browser, and I wouldn't be surprised if it became stock over time.

Hmmm, okay, so this is the first ICS feature that makes me a little jealous and the first one that makes me care whether or not my Photon gets the upgrade. I have been using Opera lately, but am really interested in this. Hopefully it will get backported to Gingerbread.
I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I hope it gets developed as fast a Chrome for desktop.

It feels like a Rep forward.... for the STOCK browser. I don't like the page rendering on my xoom. It seems a little choppy when scrolling but otherwise its nice. No flash is a *little* bit of a let down but hopefully the web will be flash free soon.
Over all I like it! It looks nice and bookmark syncing works as advertised. I like the way the tabs look and hope they port over the theme engine and at least SOME of the apps.

i was hoping it would run on evervolv preview 6 for dinc, but no such luck. it won't load sites, just a white screen.
Unfortunately this app was released shortly before I had to leave for work, so I have not been able to play with it to any length of time. I can sure say that the little I saw of it, and for being a Beta product was impressive. In my old DX running CM7 days I only used Dolphin HD, but after making the move to the Galaxy Nexus, I have been quite pleased with the stock browser, especially the little thumb navigation shortcut. Chrome browser is something I am sure all Android users have longed for. Although it somewhat makes sense why this has not happened sooner, I am glad it is happening for real. The interface is very in tune with the ICS UX. If you have several tabs open and you swipe left or right to get to the next tab, when you reach the last one, you get the same animation you would see when swiping homescreens left or right. Tilting the phone while all tabs are open, to me, is very smooth and something I personally have never seen before. Just like the recently opened apps, while having all tabs open, closing a tab is the same, swipe to dismiss. The desktop sync works perfectly and is an evolution to Chrome to Phone in a way.
There is no flash, not the end of the world... but it would have been nice to see it supported. I don't spend a lot of time in the browser, so not a deal breaker for me. I don't think flash is a bad thing per se, just a lot of bad sites use flash to seem 'cool'.

Yeah, its good; it just needs a face-lift on the android tablets. On tablets it looks exactly like the desktop browser, which is not very touch friendly in my opinion. It's a little awkward to switch between tabs on the tablet because of the fact that the tabs are so small. Although, other than that it is a very good mobile browser.
So far I'm digging it a lot. I just noticed something nice that I can't seem to replicate every time though:
It seems that if you long tap on a spot that is not a definite link, like let's say your finger is half on 2 different links-- Chrome will pop up a zoomed in bubble view of the area your finger is on allowing you to select the link you wanted easily.

I uninstalled all other browsers when I got this. The only thing holding it back is lack of flash.

Google is moving in the right direction and Chrome Beta is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but Google needs to adopt Android 4's Holo aesthetic for all of its Android apps going forward. Chrome Beta's address bar looks like it got farted into the future by Android 1.5. Chrome Beta also could do without the swiping to switch tabs and take some of the bones of the stock browser, including the "Labs" features. Swiping to switch tabs is really not as useful as the stock browser's "Quick controls" feature, which I use more often than switching tabs. "Quick Controls" also opened up screen real estate by hiding the address bar. Other than that, I still find Chrome Beta to certainly be beta, as there have been many times where I've been on a site that serves video or audio via HTML5 markup and Chrome Beta will hang the page, so I have to go kill the process. That does not happen in the stock browser or in Opera Mobile, where I forced disabled Flash to force Opera Mobile to pull video on pages that use HTML5 as the media conduit. That's a bug I've submitted, so Google may find that to be a legitimate problem to fix in the next Chrome Beta update.
I do like the Chrome Browser, but its going to have to support plugins like lastpass and xmarks before it can become my preferred browser on Android. Don't get me wrong, I want it to be my preferred browser, but without my choice of secure password and bookmark syncing its usefulness is reduced to that of a secondary browser.
