Android is starting to aggravate me.

First of all, I have to point that I LOVE Android. I love how you can customize it to your heart’s content and I love how apps can reach out to other apps without any difficulty. Before I complain, I try my best to do something about it before saying something. So please don’t assume that I’m just making these complaints rashly.

1. Fix Google Voice! There are several bugs that needs to be fixed with Google Voice and it aggravates that Google still hasn’t fixed this app after a couple years. Here are some of the bugs:

a. I’m tired of pressing the back button and it doesn’t go back to the inbox. Please Google, I don’t want to go to back to the same conversation I was just in 5 times before getting to the inbox. Better yet, I don’t want to go back to another conversation and have the “sending” pop up indefinitely loop again after I’ve already sent the text!

b. Why does Google Voice get stuck at “sending” sometimes while I try to send a text when I have 5 GREEN bars of data? Also, why does the app tell me that the text message failed to send after it was actually sent? I hate sending out double texts especially when it’s to my friend that only has a 200 text messaging allowance.

c. Google, please add batch operations and multiple recipients for text messages! My Nokia dumb phone can do both easily and I don’t understand why you can’t.

d. Despite having the alias number saved by the Google Voice app, it takes forever to connect sometimes or the alias number fails to connect resulting in me having to use my real number. The whole point of Google Voice is so that you can avoid having to use your real number and having one number for all your other numbers. Fix this Google.

2. Fix in-app fragmentation. Why is the Messaging app fully featured (as in it has batch operations and other standard SMS features) while the Google Voice app isn’t? Why does the Google Voice app have an inbox preview widget while the Messaging app and Gmail app don’t? Please make all Google made apps look and feel similar.

Also, I wish I can sync my bookmarks with chrome on my Android 2.3 browser...

3. Sometimes, I get no data despite having 5 GREEN bars of data whether it’s 3G or Edge. This problem isn’t just limited to the Nexus S but I also experienced it on the Nexus One which is leading me to believe that this is an Android problem not a Nexus S problem. Google, fix this please. If I have no signal please tell me I have no signal so I’m a lot less tempted to smash my phone against the wall.

4. Please fix various UI bugs. The fact that there are these UI bugs shows how little care you show in making a great fluid experience in Android. One example is in the call log. At one moment the numbers listed in the call log can be in the form of 1-123-456-4651 and the next it can be in the form of +1 (123) 456-7890. Make up your mind Android, which is it? Another is in the favorites tab of the phone app, the lines that separate each contact from one another, between the phone icons, may or may not be there. You can see what I'm talking about here: https://picasaweb.google.com/Choi.Timothy/NexusSBu...

5. Lastly, please have better customer support. If I post this in the Android help forums in Google, I'll probably won't get a response. In fact, I posted an issue last week and never got a response.

Anyway, if you get to this point, thanks for reading. I've been wanting to post for a long long time.

P.S. This is my 2nd attempt at typing this up since Chrome crashed on me. Sorry if this doesn't sound very fluid, I swear that the first one did...lol

The issue when hitting the back button in Google Voice and it not going back to your inbox is pretty annoying. I usually have to hit back 10 times, then relaunch the app in order to get back to my inbox. You're also spot on about Google's support, it's pretty horrible. Other than that, I haven't really experienced the other issues that you pointed out.

To tack on your list, I wish Android would just be more polished. It might be just my particular phone (Droid X), but I get random freezes at least once a day.

I haven't seen those freezes on the Samsung Moment (1.6, 2.1) or the EVO (2.1, 2.2, 2.3), so I don't think it is an Android bug. Maybe one of your apps? Anyway, there does seem to be some link between bugs and specific hardware, though, because I never experienced bugs in general on my Moment (other than the issue with Samsung's ghetto CDMA radio), but I have constant problems of one sort or another on the EVO, when I was on stock ROM and CM6 and CM7.

I'm beginning to wonder if the fault lies with Android or the manufacturers / carriers and their customizations. None of the Android phone manufacturers seem to be able to make bug-free hardware, which makes Android suck because what else are we going to run it on? It's all kind of depressing.

For me, the issue isn't mainly the fact that the phones have bugs. It's the fact that Google doesn't do anything about it. Like for the Google Voice app, I know for a fact that that back button behavior has been going on for at least a year.

The most aggravating thing is that, despite having a Nexus, Google is still slow to release patches to Android.

Yeah, I have been feeling the aggravation lately with my EVO as well. In all honesty, I have been asking myself... I wonder if there is a way to integrate my Google Voice # with WebOS. If there is, I would actually consider giving it a chance. I'm sure I'd end up aggravated with too before long. I am too much of a perfectionist to ever be happy with any of this stuff... which is why my dream job would be to be an independent product tester that would test devices outside the corporate bubble so I can tell them what they need to fix BEFORE they shovel their crap on the public. [I am referring to any company that would hire my services, not just Google specifically]

haha, same here. I've been thinking about if there's a way to fully integrate Google Voice into WP7 but of course it'll never happen...sigh...oh well.

Hmmm...I think I'll post this on Google Mobile Help forums and maybe I'll get a response for once from Google?

I totally agree with you. I also forgot to add that I wish that I can have multiple users for Google Talk.

Android 2.3.4 added this for chat... Just need to add it for voice/video in Talk or better yet integrate Google Talk/Voice/Mail better a lot of overlap that could ride on each others framework. If I want to text/message/email/send MMS/video chat to another Google user on another Google phone it should be a lot more seamless like it is with Apple/iPhone/iTouch

I have 2.3.4 on my Nexus S and I don't see the option to change users in Google Talk. Are you talking about Google Talk or another chat program? I'm confused...
