Android Archos gets pics and price

Well it looks like the Android archos is finally get some more info, its $294 for 16GB SSD, $370 for 32GB SSD, $320 for 160GB HDD, and $420 for a 500GB HDD. The UI looks like a mix of Android and their own blend but in the pic you can see the android with the pullout tab bar and familiar icons. The only thing i didn't see was a market hopefully they just left that icon out. I myself will be saving for the 160gb, or the 500gb model.

Apparently it came out today, or is available today. Archos does some weird stuff, but this caught me off guard.

Is it just me or is that one sexy little media tablet. I think since that came out the same day as the Zune HD i may not be getting a Zune after all.

agreed

but i'm not necessarily jumping on this yet, just nice to have an android device out there to compare to

i think it's always best to wait for reviews to come in on archos products before dropping the money

It's definitely a sexy looking tablet. I went ahead and updated the product images.

I agree and after a little reading i am going to let this get into hands of some of the XDA devs since it sounds like Archos may have locked it down a bit, and it is not google branded so i will definitely wait for some decent reviews to hit but it still looks like an awesome media tablet.

And thank you the white didn't do it justice.

Hmmm... Answer me this folks: If I already have ultraportable notebooks and have gone off the idea of keyboardless (or super-compromised keyboard) MID's, and already have PMP's, what would be the reason for buying one of these?

Android? What in practical terms would Android give me that e.g. the iTunes Store doesn't?

Well it does come with a DVR dock so you can record and watch videos off the device, plus the high end model comes with 500gb of hard drive space. For me i think I am actually going to have a Zune HD as well as this mainly for my video rips, so i can watch them on a decent sized screen, since it is almost 5". Plus with Android the browser, updates, will make it a decent tablet. Really it is just a cool piece of Android i will eventually own.
