The net is buzzing today with Amazon's launch of their new Cloud Drive service, that provides 5GB of free storage to all existing customers, allowing them to store documents, photos, and even music in the cloud and giving them access / playback on customer's computers and Android devices.
Are you excited about this particular service or similar services? Amazon has apparently preempted both Google and Apple in their own endeavors at cloud storage.

I signed up for this last night and even bought $5 album to expand it to 20gigs. I started the sync late last night and it took like 12 hours to upload like 18gigs worth of music. So far its pretty good, not a lot of lag when streaming, with 4g on theres almost none.
Kudos to Amazon for being able to get this out before Google and Apple.

TechCrunch says Cloud Drive works fine without Flash. It looks like Amazon is specifically blocking Mobile Safari.

Yeah, after further reading I found that just the upload/sync app is flash based, the streaming part works fine without flash. Amazon is specifically blocking the iOS browser. When I change the UA on my phone to iOS it is blocked, but works fine when I switch back to Android. I am guess Amazon is playing hardball and blocking until Apple approves the app.
After a day of playing around with the service, it works really well, much better than I expected. Plus, it has freed up pretty much my whole SD card on my phone. While it's not going to replace my dropbox or gdocs for other types of files, I like it a lot for music use.

I am planning to try it out today, and am definitely excited about it. When the API support is ready, I'm sure we will see some pretty slick stuff for accessing the files. I generally just carry around my "desert island" music on my phone, so this could be a great way to access more of my library without having to buy a larger SD card.
