$649 is a lot for a business e-reader but do you think it's worth it?

Well the price has been announced and the 4GB version will be $649 at start, here's a quote "A 4GB Que with WiFi and enough storage to hold 35,000 documents will retail for $649, while a 8GB version with WiFi, 3G, and enough storage for 75,000 documents will cost $799. Plastic Logic is also claiming that content from a PC, Mac or BlackBerry smartphone can be ported onto the Que. That price point is markedly higher than that of Amazon.com’s Kindle, or Barnes & Noble’s Nook, both of which retail for $259. E-readers from other manufacturers generally cost under $500." - eweek.com

I think it's worth it but I might wait to see more reviews first. I read a lot of business articles, documents, yearly reports, books on business so for myself this is what I'm looking for. The other e-readers just are not tailored to my needs and CES hasn't shown any other business e-reader that will be as good as the Que.

I'm just an interested consumer but I like the size, feature and UI. Plastic Logic seems to have nailed the UI. But $799, yikes thats steep!

I don't see any market for a device of this type at those prices. Yes, a pro-reader device would be a handy tool for most mobile professionals, but with the way budgets are now, it doesn't make sense when you'll have your laptop and smartphone anyways.

I think for the business reader such as myself this is a perfect device but the Notion Ink Adam might be much more worth the money, will have to see. I'd like to see this device for $499 if possible but for $649 I am tempted.

the price is just a joke! 650? with even no color.... leave alone multimedia capacity!

I am professional reader, to me color image is essential. This exclude all e-readers to-date!

What I will accept is a color reader, huge storage (today's standard, say 32GB at least), and intelligent organizer (I routinely deal with hundreds or more documents)..... at a price less then 600....

wait, just realized there is something called netbook! LOL

Well I'm glad you know what you want.

Fortunately for Plastic Logic, some people aren't looking for a netbook. There willing to sacrifice color for reduced eye strain, sacrifice a backlight for weeks long battery life. Some people want to be able to chuck a device that can do this in a full laptop bag and not have the large screen break because its made of rigid glass.

I'd even go as far as to say that most people wouldn't carry more then 4GB of anything if not for music or movies.

There is one thing that I think Plastic Logic does match of the things you list and that is intelligent organization including, Tabbed reading for quickly switching between documents, a powerful Windows CE core and Outlook support.

Just because this isn't right for you dosn't mean that it not right for other people.

Exactly, This does what I want and does it well. This is a niche product that will have a small following. I don't want colour I just want a nice device for me to read reports on without the hassle of eye strain, the ability to use many different formats and quickly go b/w documents.

I really like this device and I have been following it for a while waiting to see how much it would cost. I just can't justify paying 799.00 for an e-reader no matter how nice it is. If this was 399.00 I would definitely pick it over everything else out right now but 799 is to much.

Oh and I don't see the point of buying it without the 3G included

It's $650 for the 4GB which is plenty of space.

I'm not to concerned with the space, but I want any e-reader I buy to have both a 3G connection and a WiFi connection.

I may get the $650 version, but I need to see it first in person before I drop such a huge chunk of change. I need this to view journal articles and technical books, so as something to boost productivity, the price is probably fair.

What concerns me is compatibility: how does it handle PDF files, and how portable is the notes I make on this (i.e., would this be able to generate new pdf from notes taken?). Can it sync to my Dropbox account? I understand it also has a proprietary software: if it is not compatible with tools I use, it's out.

We will have to wait more on this one and with the iPad coming out at $500 The price for this is looking too steep now.
