$499.00 is not too bad considering the fact that I am buying a 3GS 8GB for $400. Where I am stuff like that is worth their weight in Gold

130$ premium for the 3G capable model, though.

Excellent prince points, this will sell well I think. Glad they are fully supporting physical keyboards too. This can be many people's only computer. ChromeOS will be the competition, Microsoft is in trouble in the consumer market.

These prices are in USD obviously.

Also I want one now and not in 60 days!

any tech person knows adding 3G is one tiny inexpensive chip addition. in many cases, they simply turn the chip on... so yes, with that in mind, charging $130 for that is ridiculous... no way around it.. it should just be included and you could turn it on/pick a service provider if you choose too.. or you could do pay as you go... with this, you are screwed over for no reason... or for the apple reason - because you can be...

I am guessing that extra $130 is probably the AT&T fee to get data that cheap,

For me the price was the most impressive point. I'm still not going to buy it, since it cannot replace my desktop, laptop or cell phone; but at $499 I think a lot of people might just go for it.

I think this could easily replace the living room laptop for most people, and at $499, it probably will. $499 for a 1.5 lb touchscreen laptop is a shocker. I don't need 3G for this anymore than I need 3G for my laptop. WiFi is fine. I already have an iPhone with data for when I'm not at home and this doesn't fit in my pocket anyway.

And now there's a keyboard dock to satisfy those who (still) complain about touchscreen typing.

Actually, only major problem I see is multitasking. Seriously lame.

the $499 price is a smoke screen... a gateway drug price... once you through the door and have your mind made up, you will get 3G and accessories, upgrade to the 32 or 64 GB, buy e-books, and pay the monthly data rate

all perhaps on top of your current smartphone plan!!

YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!

The base price is good, but I wonder what Apple and ATT&T are going to make you pay for twice if you have an Iphone already. Apps? Data? Accessories?
