2,26 or 2,53 GHz?

Hi, I'm about to buy a new MacBook Pro 13", but I was wondering if I really need the 2,53 GHz processor?
I will only use the computer for standard programs that you will find in iWork and iLife, plus Cod4-gaming!
Can I go with 2,26 GHz and will 2,26 GHz be good enough in 3 years time?
Thanks!

oh ok. for those apps you wont notice difference in all honesty. better off saving money for more RAM or SSD. That is where speed bottleneck is.

except 4g of ram isn't a bottleneck with the lower processor. the bottle neck in the gpu. but it really depends on how fast you want things like application switching and navigating within apps. you will notice an improvement with the 2.53, especially since you want to play COD4, then pay for the upgrade. unfortunately, ddr3 laptop ram is still expensive, but upgrade it if you have the chance

If you want to run CoD 4, get the 2.53 GHz. Make sure you also upgrade the RAM. It dirt cheap to do so. Don't buy it from Apple.

The 2.53 will also last you longer.

If your going to do a lot of gaming, get at least a 7200 RPM HDD.

When I bought my 1st gen unibody 15" MB Pro, I chose the 2.53 over the 2.4 because the the latter had less L2 cache. This make more difference than the slight processor speed.

If the 2.26 had less L2, then it's a no brainer in regards to your 3-year life cycle. Otherwise, you need to consider a value play if cost is an issue for you.

I jumped from the 2.0 Macbook to the 2.26Ghz Macbook Pro and noticed an immediate difference, and I'm no power user. It's up to you, but the difference is definitely there.

Considering how you're using it for games (CoD 4, at least), get the 2.53 GHz processor. Most games recommend using a 2.4 GHz processor, so with the 2.53 processor, performance should be pretty good.
If you're planning on using the computer for games in the future, then you'll regret getting the 2.26 GHz version. The 2.53 seems to be the way to go.
