1600 x 900

I asked my Lenovo rep about this laptop as I really want one. He couldn't give me any info on a release date, but when asked about a higher resoltion option like 1600x900 he said it would be available just like it is on the Standard T430.

Thanks, this is exactly the info I was looking for. This machine seems like exactly what I want, but I really need at least a 1600x900 display. I was looking at the Asus UX32VD as well, but I prefer ThinkPads because of their no-nsense look and my positive experiences with them.

I know the feeling. I would have gone with an X230 if they would have given an option for 1600x900, 1366x768 is too low... I've seen the Asus, it's nice, but you are right it's no Thinkpad. I love the design of thinkpads, the profesional look and feel. But they really need to work on giving us better screen options.

That is good to hear. I assumed it would be an option since, as you say, it is on the regular T430. Now all we need is a release date. I would hope it is soon as Ivy Bridge has long since been released.

The latest rumor I've hear is August, but no real confirmation on that. But I agree, given that the new Ultrabook class Low Voltage Ivy Bridge CPUs are out now we should see this pretty soon.

I've also heard August, and "in time for the back to school sales" being thrown around.

According to Lenovo's website The X1 Carbon is slated for August, but the T430u just says Fall.

Now we do know the X1 Carbon for sure (atleast according to Lenovo Press) will have a 1600x900 display. But you loose some options from the T430u (Dedicated Graphics, Ports like Ethernert, and the option for 1TB HDD)

So I guess the question is, if the T430u doesn't have an HD+ option screen , would the X1 Carbon be an acceptable alternative?

Also, doesn't it seem funny that they would release 2, 14" ultra thin notebooks right next to each other and not give a 1600x900 display option on both? (Seriously, they probably use the same screen part...)

Not only is the 1600 x 900 option on the regular T430, but it seems like would be a real waste to give the option for discrete graphics, but not a better display option.
