16 GB iPod Nano sells for $180. 16 GB Zune HD sells for $180 on Amazon (orig. $200).

Despite being an Apple fanboy and the owner of several iPods, I think it would be a no-brainer to get the Zune. Any thoughts?

If you have a mac, you don't have access to the Zune sync software. That's a disadvantage. I'm not familiar with a way around that. Otherwise, I'd say it's a no brainer if you don't have any accessories for iPod only.

That's just not convenient for syncing. However, if you use a Zune Pass, it would be worth it. Interesting service

MS has released a sync software for Macs. It's not the whole Zune Application (they says they're thinking about porting that totally over) but I hear it's good enough to get the job done on a Mac. Frankly, I use a MBP, I have an iPhone and a Zune HD. I wish i could only use the Zune software for both phone/Zune and get rid of iTunes for good. It's the worst app ever!

Oh yeah you're right. This is officially only for WP7. I have seen that some people able to sync it with the Zune as well. Takes a little doing but it sounds doable.

The only pause would be if you were in the market for a new phone. If so, the new winpho 7 looks very iphone/ipod-user-friendly and is basically a zune HD with more.

WP7 is a lot more than what the Zune HD has now. Hope Microsoft releases a software update for previous owners in addition to the second version of the HD.

Due to how underpowered the Zune HD hardware is compared to the minimums for Windows Phone, plus the point it doesn't have the required buttons, if Microsoft does shift to WP7 on the next Zune, we won't see an update path sadly. Still, a ZuneHD is a great device if you want to do subscription music, but also just generally in UI and music experience in my opinion.
