I've recently purchased the Dell 3007WFP screen and have not been able to get anywhere above an 1280x800 resolution on it, which is quite painful. Any ideas? Has anybody gotten the full 2560x1600 to work?
I was all ready to buy a new Studio XPS 16 with windows 7 when I noticed that the high end graphics card of the Studio 17 is a relatively strong 4650 that is just behind the XPS's 4670. With comparable configurations the XPS still seems to end up at least 100 dollars more expensive than the Studio 17. Am I missing something or is the 17 just a better buy?
I know you can get this laptop with the ATI 4670 card over the stock 3670 card. Does that make a sizable difference? From some other forums, it sounds like it does. Also, does this work well as a gaming laptop? I'm not expecting amazing Crysis performance but I mostly play BF2 and Supreme Commander and TF2 and would like to know that it can handle those games without an issue. I can't seem to find any good performance reviews. Also, can anyone confirm that this DOES support hardware...
Can any of the owners recommend a case for this laptop? It seems the 16" fits in between a lot of what is available. I'd like to purchase a sleeve or boot that fits it snugly. I have a big Spire laptop backpack and will just be putting it in there once I find one. For now I'll just have the 6 cell battery but may buy a 9 as well. Thanks!
I am debating which I want to get, I'm a student, so not a crazy amount of money available to spend and I know that any of these machines may cost me around $1600-$1700.
