Most smartphone users want larger screens
details
According to a new survey, most smartphone users want larger screens; the 4-to-4.5-inch range is apparently the sweet spot. As the former owner of both a 3.5-inch iPhone and 5-inch Dell Streak, and the current owner of a 4.5-inch Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, I'd say that sounds about right. I found the iPhone's display too small for texting, reading or watching videos (though it was fine for Angry Birds). The Dell Streak, at the time the largest smartphone in existence, was great for all of... Read more →

Dell stops selling the Streak
details
Looks like another tablet bites the dust. Dell just announced that they'll be discontinuing sales of their Streak tablet. Is it a sad day for tablets, or is this long overdue? It looks like 79 people on gdgt have the Streak and it had an average rating of 4.0. So, it doesn't seem like people were unhappy with it -- it just didn't sell well. Is there anything Dell could have done better with the Streak? Via: http://liliputing.com/2011/08/dell-discontinues-th...

I've had my Streak for just about a month and I'm very pleased with it. The update to Froyo came unexpectedly early and went smoothly OTA.
details
I prefer it and live wallpapers are an interesting way to burn up the battery more quickly! - but very attractive. Being able to rotate the home screen to both orientations is the way it should have been from the start. There are a few apps that wouldn't run under 1.6, but no huge difference. The large screen at last makes web browsing a pleasure and I can still put it in pocket or purse easily. I don't know why other phone manufacturers haven't put out 5" devices; as far as... I'm done waiting for this thing.
details
It's coming out in the US three months too late, the OS is at LEAST two versions farther back than is acceptable, the unlocked price is unreasonable ($549), and I can't even take it to T-Mobile to do month-to-month data. I'm back on the fence. Time to wait for the next hardware refresh from mobile players who are actually serious. (i.e. NOT Dell...)

Well, our review's up:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/06/dell-streak-rev... And to answer a few common questions: Yes, it fits in a pocket (even in our Uniqlo regular-fit jeans). You may look a bit silly holding the large phone against your face, but you'll get used to it over time. We got 10 hours of battery from our usual test routine! Hope this helps. :)

Streak or iPad?
details
I have $500 burning a hole in my pocket but only $500. I have a myTouch 3G (love android) but either my eyes are going bad or the screen is way too small. I cant decide if having a full time, readily handy 5 inch screen to read my feeds, twitters, surf the web and make calls is better then keeping the myTouch and having the iPad to surf with when I am home on the couch (I am not paying an additional monthly charge for the 3G). I also would love a device that could connect to my camera (Canon 7D)...
