I had a problem back on firmware 1.31 (of course) where the wireless connections to this device would get really flaky and drop out frequently. I noticed during these times that the router was very hot to the touch, even in my cool basement. Firmware 1.34 NA seemed to fix the issue initially but I think it still lingers. I recently left the router directly in front of a windows without thinking and sunlight warmed it up, again my wireless connections began to act erratically. The moral of the...
I'm thinking of converting my wireless over to N and was curious to if anyone has had positive success with doing this. I know that speeds vary a lot depending on environment but if the general consensus is that it's not worth it I don't want to waste money on it.
If you're going to the Chicago event (or even if you're not)... What are you stoked to see from this group? Who are you psyched to meet with? What do you want to ask them? I'll follow up w/ a 2nd group soon.
This router is solid for everything except VPN passthrough. Just a warning if you need to VPN to work or somewhere, it will drop your connection in 4 minutes. The firmware it shipped with was 1.21, did everything I could but no fix. Then I upgraded the firmware to 1.32NA, still no fix. I suspect their ALG feature is not stable or very broken. Disabling it for PPTP and IPSec will sustain a longer connection, but when you disconnect from the VPN and then try to reconnect it won't work unless...

My family has a router (linksys wireless-G with speedbooster) currently but i find that my connection is less than 3 bars. We are looking at getting this router but have a few concerns. on a normal day we use 3 devices at once, a mac laptop, a dell laptop, and an xbox 360. I am wondering if this will 1. connect to all of them reliably 2. connect to about 6 devices at once (that's the most we've ever had in our house and it was horrible. We get comcast internet and i am wondering if this...
I don't know what the word is on finalizing the N standard, but my old D-Link DI-524 finally died and I am looking to upgrade to something new. I've looked a lot into this router and it seems to be a good pick, but I'm leery on going to N because its still draft. The house isn't too big, but I'd need the wireless to reach upstairs. We generally have multiple devices going at once, and are heavy users (HD streaming, gaming, etc). However, my Macbook Pro is the only device that...

Hello all, Noob here, i was wondering if D-Link will release a new firmware and possibly upgrade the speed of the router when the final wireless N specs are released (supposedly this upcoming November). This router has been great for me and i just hope I can extend its life with the new speeds (600mbps according to Wikipedia). Eventually, I do want to upgrade to a Dual Band router
My wireless drops once every hour after I upgraded to this new FW and my Slingbox has been spiking even more than before. Worst of all, I can't upgrade back to 1.21. Anyone else having these troubles?
From what I've read recently, there is no single dual-band router that is the go-to router. All the dual-band routers have some negatives and don't justify the price. There really isn't a "best" in this category right now and I don't see anything on the horizon. For now, I'm sticking with my DIR-655 for 2.4 GHz support with gig-E ports and my Netgear WNHDE11 for 5 GHz media streaming support.
