I haven't been keeping up with what was coming with the Boxee iPad app, but I was excited based on the idea that it could replicate the functionality of Boxee Box. Well, I just installed the app and I'm sort of disappointed. Here are the primary features: - Friends stream (Videos your friends are sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr) - Watch later (Use the Boxee bookmarklet to mark videos to watch later via computer) - Featured (Videos that the Boxee staff highlight) - Video streaming (Stream...

My boxee box can not connect/stay connected to my wifi network (I have an Airport Extreme with "WPA2 Personal" wireless security enabled).
Using an ethernet connection is not an option, which basically makes it a brick (given it's amorphous shape, a particularly useless brick). Can anyone help?

This piece appeared in the gdgt weekly newsletter.
Sign up for it here: http://gdgt.com/newsletter/ *** The past few months have been big ones for the future of television: the Boxee Box finally shipped, Hulu Plus rolled out of beta, the first Google TV boxes and TV sets came out, Apple rebooted Apple TV, and Netflix announced a streaming-only option. There's no denying that more and more households are canceling their cable or satellite in favor of getting their TV online, and while the numbers are still relatively small, it's...

Got the Boxee box last Friday. Works pretty well.
I put up a detailed review here: http://mattapps.com/2010/11/14/boxee-box-in-depth-...

Got my Boxee yesterday (Nov.13) and very pleased.
I'm in Canada so a lot of sites are blocked but I'm happy to report they have linked to the Canadian versions of TV sites so I can watch things (CBC, CTV, Global). I hope they will be adding more - like Space.

Do you have the Boxee Box yet?
What do you think? Post your impressions! (We just got one in the office today, though I haven't had a chance to play with it yet).

Has yours shipped yet?
Mine isn't scheduled to arrive until 11/13, but I'm hearing some people already have theirs! Did you get yours yet, if you did what are your impressions of it so far? If you haven't received yours yet, why did you decided on the Boxee Box instead of all the other alternatives, Apple TV, Roku, Western Digital live TV, any of the Google TV boxes? I decided to preorder mine because of the ability to stream basically all filetypes through my local network, the interface not being half...

I wonder if the ABC, CBS, NBC will block their online content on boxee, like they are on googleTV?

I'm thinking about getting a Boxee box and I'm curious to hear other people's thoughts on using it to play Hulu or other web browser based…
content with it. I'm running Boxee on my laptop (1.83 ghz C2D, 2gb ram) and it had been pretty poor, so I'm kinda worried how this experience would be using it on a Boxee box which will probably will be less powerful than my laptop. Any thoughts?

With the Boxee Box pre-orders getting underway yesterday it started me thinking about what I really want in a set top box and how that has changed in the last…
few years. First of all, these opinions may simply be a result of personal preference, but I believe some of them extend to the majority of consumers of digital content. Three years ago, as a college student with little to no money, my main source of content was through torrents. I downloaded every new movie and several TV series to hard disks and took pride in the amount of content I began to accumulate. It was at this time that I started using Boxee as my main media center application. The...

The Boxee Box is now available for preorder on Amazon for $229.
I like the Boxee software, but with the new Apple TV priced at $99 and Google prepping their entrance into the TV space, do you think the Boxee Box can compete?
I was worried for Boxee a few weeks ago when Google announced Google TV and that was with the assumption of six months or so space between the release of the…
Boxee Box and Google TV's roll out. Now with the Boxee Box being pushed back into November does it have any chance of success at all? It's pretty clear that Google, with all of it different partnerships, plans on pushing this product pretty hard this holiday shopping season. I'm afraid the Boxee Box is going to be swept away by the flood of Google TV this fall. Thoughts?

The convergence of TV and the internet is an idea that has only really taken off on the torrent sites, but has a lot of potential, especially if someone can…
make a device/platform to which content creators can latch on to, the way magazine publishers are limpetting themselves to the iPad. The problem is that no one has yet produced a product that can fully replace a laptop connected to a TV/projector. Today, there are three main options for doing this: 1) Apple TV/Xbox 360 These both have pretty much the same story to them: you buy content from the respective stores, through the device, then watch it on your TV. Apple TV can transfer content from...

was great seeing all the gdgt fans in Chicago, and we're looking forward to seeing even more in Seattle in July.
As we mentioned at the event, we'll have an announcement about the availability of the Boxee Box in the next 3 weeks. We'll make sure the gdgt guys get the news : )

We appreciate our gdgt Live sponsors coming out to our events to meet the community face-to-face and support us. Most of them are on the site now too.
If you're going to the Chicago event (or even if you're not)... What are you stoked to see from this group? Who are you psyched to meet with? What do you want to ask them? I'll follow up w/ a 2nd group soon.

What is D-Link up to these days? We continue to push the limits of home networking, shared storage, IP surveillance and media sharing through the home.
Ready to discuss what's on the horizon for Wi-Fi, NAS, and yes, the Boxee Box.

People of Lava Scandinavia - An Android powered HDTV?
There's been some buzz over this television recently because of the fact it uses Android to display a bunch of internet related media. It seems like this is the future of of televisions (containing onboard, interactive firmware or operating systems that connect to the internet). Is it really necessary though. Every year, we see manufacturers release another hundred individual models of their latest and greatest HDTV in every size. I don't think there's much incentive for them to...
