What is the best media player on the market right now?
details
I currently have a HTPC running XBMC in my living room and have been wanting similar set up in my bedroom without the need for a full fledged pc. I saw that Plex now works on GoogleTV, as well as Roku, with a true market app but I know the GoogleTV reviews have been less than stellar.
The Boxee Box has always intrigued me but when I used the desktop software I didn't find the interface to be too great plus the apps like Netflix were pretty lackluster. Have they improved since the device &... Read more →

Best Netflix streaming movies?
details
It's getting to be a hassle to find stuff to watch on Netflix so I thought I'd ask for people's list of favorite movies, documentaries, series, whatever. Can be as long or as short as you'd like. Also, if you have any great links to sites that list or make it easier to find good streaming content on Netflix, please share.

Is there no streaming device that does all of what I want?
details
I want Netflix. I want Amazon Instant Video. I want Hulu Plus. I want Vudu. I want HBO Go.

(Roku does Amazon but not HBO Go, Boxee does HBO Go but not Amazon...)

I want to stream 1080 HD video in various formats from my computer, specifically including MKV's containing h.264 video and AC-3 audio.

(Roku only supports video on USB thumb drives, not over the network, and fails to work lots of the time on standard MKV's of Top Gear for example)

Is the Boxee Box a REPLACEMENT for cable, or an ADDITION to cable?
details
If I install a Boxee Box, will I be able to find all of the programming I get from my cable provider? If not All...Most? Some? I'm confused by the role of Boxee...is it to provide the same viewing experience as cable, or is it to open a new world of entertainment possibilities? Bottom line for me: my cable bill is too high--almost $140/month. I want the same exact access to the major networks as cable (including local news and other local affiliate programming), and access to a reasonable amount... Read more →

How do these two devices compare in terms of in terms of UI, speed, responsiveness, meta data support, reliability, and codec support?
details
*.mkv with h.264 and/or VC1 video with AC3/DTS sound. do either support HD lossless codecs in *.mkv embedded and/or external subtitles in *.Mkv and *.mp4/*.m4v -*.srt subtitles -*.idx & *.sub subtitles *.m4v with h.264 video and ac3 sound In terms of WAF, which of these 2 work better? Which one means less headaches and a better "just works" approach. For our use, streaming video is a wash since we have a Bu-Ray player that handles our preferred streaming service, NetFlix. It it...

Can I flawlessly watch VIDEO_TS rips?
details
I have just one question, and it's a really really simple one. I hope the answer is simple too. I just want to know this: Will this device allow me to play VIDEO_TS rips from all of my DVDs? With menus, subtitles, alternate languages, and other DVD features? Without bugginess or conversion? That's basically 75% of what I want from a set top box. I am so tired of using Windows Media Center on my terrible laggy laptop across the room with a 20 ft VGA cable. This really shouldn't be...
