To Mike Arrington. Everybody's giving credit to Apple, but there's no real evidence that they were working on the iPad until they made the announcement in January. Sure, Apple is the second to get a tablet out, but why shouldn't they have been first; all they had to do was port iPhone OS. Their real tablet OS, 4.0, won't come out until fall. Everyone else had to start from scratch.

I'm not quite dead yet
According to giz, Fusion Garage is still planning on demoing this next monday. http://gizmodo.com/5418780/crunchpad-breaks-cover-... They haven't released a statement, so I wouldn't take Arrington's story as the only truth (big though his soapbox may be). Still holding out hope that this device gets released, and it's as good as they hyped it up to be.

A sad day for us all, the Crunchpad is dead.
It saddens me so, but here it is. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/30/crunchpad-end...

Crunchpad, one of Popular Mechanics most brilliant products of 2009
So, Michael Arrington's CrunchPad was awarded one of the spots in Popular Mechanics most brilliant products of 2009 list. Rather amusing in my opinion considering it has not been realesed to any market anywhere. Unless we are including Arrington's office as a market now. Glimpse of crunchpad caught in HP DreamScreen review on TechCrunch?
First of all, please excuse the rather long title. Secondly, While watching the review by TechCrunch of the HP DreamScreen I noticed a little something in the background. Now this may just be me being hopeful, but it sure looks like the CrunchPad. Take a look at the video and some stills I took below. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a257/roninchez/c... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a257/roninchez/c... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a257/roninchez/c...

Why no real images?
Why do we still have these concept images for the device? Why don't they release some press shots of the real thing? As I remember seeing it, it's about twice or three times as thick as this concept and has rounded edges. The concept images have the logo in two different places, but I guess that could just be a backlit logo that changes based on orientation. Are they planning to majorly slim it down for release?

CrunchPad vs. Apple Tablet
Does anyone know how people will type on these? If the Crunch is $400 and does end up being half the cost of the Apple, would you settle for the CrunchPad or pay more for additional functionality? I hardly ever cruise the internet outside of work or home and was wondering how many of you would swear by these streamlined web devices once they launched.

CrunchPad is $400 now? Straying away from it's original purpose?
When the idea was hatched for the CrunchPad, it was meant to be a cheap bear bones machine for surfing the web. Now, with what you seem to be it's second raise in price I am not sure that is staying on course for what it was originally meant. The Straits Time is saying that according to Fusion Garage is aiming to get it out by November, but with a $400 price tag. The new specs that have come with this report are rather pleasing, but at the same time I am disappointed to see the price being...

Audio?
I think the answer is yes, but will there be speakers? The only thing i could see being amazing with this is if i could stream my media to it, and secure this to my wall. But I dont even think that would be possible without a real OS...

Isnt Chrome OS a vote of confidence for Arrington's CrunchPad vision
Google is essentially saying it believes in a net-focused computer that boots right to the browser, a.k.a. the upcoming CrunchPad
Coming out late July or early August!
I've been hearing about this thing for a long time but they finally anounced some more info. "Arrington will supposedly schedule an event for the end of this month or early August. It will retail for less than $300 and be available 'as soon as possible.'" Crunchpad.com

Is there a market for this?
Is there anyone out there that would pay $300 for something that's a subset of features? I couldn't see spending $99 for this thing. (well, maybe $99)
