Out of the box the device is very sluggish not a very nice experience, but Cowon some how got the sound quality of the D3 to be even better than the s9 wow. The UI is slow and sticky the music player is laggy when responding to UI player controls and hardware controls. Video does play back 720p video just fine with a few hiccups along the way. This can be a great device if the UI and was smoothed out and all all the glaring bugs were taken care of. I am going to hold on to it in hopes that all...
The screen, despite its size is highly watchable when it comes to video and the sound quality is on par with ever iPod I have ever owned. I would highly recommend this device to anyone.
I'm perfectly happy with my Zune 8GB but I'd love to go back to having a player that holds my entire MP3 collection (100+G). I used to have a Creative that worked great but since it died the only company that seems to offer a solution that fulfills my expectations is Apple and the one area the iPods fail is that I have to use it with iTunes and not just drag and drop and config as I want. I just love Cowon stuff. So well made with intuitive interfaces. I can't wait to get back to...
if you EVER disconnect it without ejecting you'll have to format and put everything back. occasional freezing if you do alot of tweeking. default interface is sub par but the themes and interfaces develloped are AMAZING took me 2 days to get mine completely customized, not a stock menu on it! couldnt be happier once everything was set up... you know.. unless it worked right on my computer... :\ but seriously... the sound is beautiful.
The sound is supreme, but the complete lack of podcast management tools and overall poor user interface is making me look in other directions. I still can't stand the sound quality of apple products, I'm inclined to check the Zune HD, do you think it would be a good experience?
Ok I have an S9 and it is an amazing player. I think a V5 might find its way to my home as a compliment to the S9. I can see the S9 for music and the V5 for video.
Long story short, I broke the glass part of the screen... It is definitely glass. That is all. In unrelated news, if anyone happens to want a semi broken cowon s9 (touch screen works, but there is a huge spider web crack), let me know. Kidding.
The Gui/ skin for this PMP is highly customizable. On different fora can custom made / themed gui's/ skins be found. example forum : http://iaudiophile.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5...
according to German CompuMag CHIP the Cowon S9 Curve 32GB is the best PMP (as of July 2009) http://www.chip.de/bestenlisten/Bestenliste-MP3-Pl... in my humble opinion, they've got that absolutely right :)
When I got the iAUDIO X5 I was super psyched and absolutely loved it. The best part about it was how great the sound quality was. My only complaint was the battery life. I found that the battery life was very poor. In fact, the reason I don't still use my X5 is because the battery died on me and Cowon wanted me to pay two hundred dollars to install a new battery. Anyways, I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced similar problems with the X5.
it was the thinnest mp3 player on the market when it came out... and the sound quality was excellent... I guess not having a screen on the main body could get annoying to some though
Is it just me or did anyone else buy this player expecting huge things from it only to find out it is the biggest pain in the ass to use ever. he touch screen aint to great, the default theme has buttons that are to small, updating the player is needlessly complicated, the sd card expansion is buggy etc etc.
a major firmware upgrade has been released on the 29th of June. tons of new features have been added to the Cowon S9: notepad keyboard swing motion to skip songs widgets + multi-screen m3u support new movie mode functions: subtitle sync pith control ... to name but a few. note: 2.31b is a beta release, use at your own risk. download here: http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/cowon_S9_jsfw... for more information, read the change log and the 'new features' guide.
I escpecially like the sound, the navigation by folders rather than id3 tags and the joystick that lets me operate the device without having to look at the screen. I bought a Sansa Clip+ but it's lacking the joystick. Does anyone have a suggestion?
