I've had both the cheaper Sony 28-75 F2.8 lens and now the Tamron lens to shoot off against the Zeiss, and the improvement in sharpness is undoubted - most of the time. Perhaps at the long end, there's not enough difference to justify the extra outlay - however the Zeiss is a solid all-round...
