Any good recommendations on screenshot tools for Ubuntu?
I found the screenshot tool that's installed by default to be a bit cumbersome. For instance, I tried to take a screenshot of my entire desktop and it included the "Take Screenshot" window! Another time I took a screenshot of a selected area and it had pieces of the area selector border. Sigh. I really like Snipping Tool on Windows Vista/7, so if there's anything that's EXACTLY like that, it would be amazing.

I've been using Ubuntu as my main machine for a few weeks now and it's been great except for two things that have been giving me problems:
- Gchat does not connect through Empathy. For some reason, it never works for me and gives this message: "Disconnected - No reason specified". So frustrating! - Resizing a window is like threading a needle. The padding area (not sure if that is the right work) where you need to place your mouse to resize is so narrow, I always miss it. Anyone have suggestions on how to fix these two issues?

So a month or two ago NewEgg was having a sale on 1TB drives for $60; I had some downtime last week and decided to finally get around to installing it in my…
desktop. After booting, I promptly split it up into 2 equal partitions and added them into fstab with PySDM (http://pysdm.sourceforge.net/). After rebooting my drives were automounted, as expected, but owned by root and read-only on my user account, not expected. PySDM set the options as "defaults" so I changed both of them to "rw,user, auto" after a lengthy Ubuntu Forums search session. Now this time on reboot, they're still owned by root and read-only, and I can no...

.m4p files
Anybody know of any ways to play .m4p files under Ubuntu? I know that they're encoded .m4a's, but am (so far) unable to get them to play in any player on my system. I've tried VLC, Amarok and RhythmBox.

Installing on raid
My PC is running XP from one of the partitions of its raid array and I want to install Ubuntu 9.10 x64 to an unallocated partition. However, the installer CD shows the raid array with no partitions and choosing manual mode doesn’t provide any option to select a partition either. What’s the solution?

why is wireless such a pain?
one day it finds the network perfect. The next day it doesn't. The day after that it sees the network but dhcp is being a biotch. Any good suggestions on maintaining a good wireless connection day to day, and reboot after reboot.
Upgrading
Stupid question! Is it easy to upgrade from 8.04 to this version, or any other version for that matter? I'm asking because I was thinking about getting a netbook with it preinstalled (with all the correct drivers I'm assuming) and you can only get it in 8.04, so I would like to upgrade that!
