Whenever I meet someone with a Canon S90 or S95, I want to do a secret handshake to acknowledge we're in the same club.
details
I've met a number of random people in my trials, tribulations, and travels who happen to own a Canon S90 or S95 as their primary point and shoot camera. Whenever I find out they have that camera, I want to do a secret handshake, or fist bump or something with them. Something to let them know, "hey buddy, we're of the same kind!" I know there are people around here who have some issues with it. But for its portability and capabilities, it just can't be beat. They even fit... Read more →

So, I lost a Canon S90 a few nights ago.
details
I feel absolutely miserable about. And worst of all, it wasn't even mine, it was my girlfriend's camera. Left it in a bar after a wedding celebration for some friends. We went back the next morning to look for it, but it was gone, obviously. Ugh. Such a rotten feeling. Have you lost an expensive gadget before and did you ever get it back?

So is it time to have another crack at the 'better-than-S90' compact?
details
I'm very happy with the Canon S90 from a usability point of view. But I've never been that happy with it from the point of the optics it packs, and the image limitations therefore imposed. Before I switched to the S90, my main 'compacts' were the Leica D-Lux 4 and the M8.2 - both of which were capable of producing excellent photographs (just not apparently in my untalented hands) and neither really suited my needs as a very casual snapper - both just weren't... RAW + JPEG in "Auto" mode?
details
Hi guys! I promise not to flood this board with endless newbie questions, but this one is bugging me: despite what the user manual states, I can't seem to get my S90 to record both RAW and JPEG files in "Auto" mode. When I press the "Menu" button (while in Auto mode), there isn't an option to record in RAW. When I switch over to "Program" mode, I can set it to record in RAW, but after saving the change and switching back to Auto I only get JPEGs. Am I...

Will the S90 charge over USB?
details
Hi guys! I just bought an S90 today - it's my first "serious" camera, and I'm anxious to dive in head-first. I bought it today (and paid retail - sigh) since my wife and I are embarking on a ~1000 mile road-trip tomorrow. One question that a few minutes on Google couldn't answer: Will the S90 charge it's internal battery via USB from my MacBook Pro, or do I need to bring the AC charger with us? Thanks in advance, Huxley

Best memory card for S90
details
So I just bought the Canon S90 the other day and I'm currently just using a old SanDisk memory card I had in it. I was wondering what the best card to get for the camera is. I know they make cards that have different write speeds so I want to make sure I get the fastest one that the camera can use without buying one that the camera can't take full advantage of. Does anyone have suggestion? Thanks in advance!

HDR Imaging with the Canon S90
details
I recently picked up this little beast and have been playing around with it religiously since. I have a real passion for HDR photo's and was hoping I could pull some off with the advanced settings that the S90 provides. One feature that I think will really help is bracketing, but I'm not sure how well this will work. Has anyone successfully created an HDR photo with the S90, and if so what did you do? Thanks in advance.

Using the PowerShot S90 Without a Viewfinder - Is this a problem?
details
I’ve exclusively shot with DSLRs for the past 6 years (Canon EOS 40D and 20D). I have always wanted to get a point and shoot camera that I could carry around during those times when lugging a DSLR and a few lenses just didn’t make any sense. I have never purchased one because I could not find one with all of the features I believe that I need. RAW File format Fast Lens High Usable ISO Etc…. The one desirable feature that the Canon PowerShot S90 lacks is a real viewfinder. I find it... Read more →

Amazon cancels S90 pre-orders
details
Well this is kind of inconvenient. It sounds like anyone who has pre-ordered an S90 with Amazon has had their pre-order canceled this weekend. This definitely sucks, since this camera sounds like it's going to be hugely popular - so now anyone who pre-ordered with Amazon must go somewhere else and go to the end of their waiting lists. Why would Amazon do this? Especially for such a potentially popular camera, I'm amazed they won't be selling it. Twitter search:...

Some S90 sample shots
details
Just stumbled across this in the DP Review discussions. A Polish site got their hands on the Canon PowerShot S90 and posted some sample images at ISO 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. There's not much to go one, but the images do leave a little to be desired. I'd expect less noise, especially at ISO 80 and 100. However, this is still a pre-production camera, so things can possibly still change. If you're interested in taking a look at the sample shots, you can find them here:... Read more →

S90 is my dream point and shoot
details
I'm really lusting after this camera and am anxiously saving my pennies for this (among other gadgets). I've been looking for new point and shoots for awhile to supplement my DSLR (which is too big to carry everywhere). The size, features, light sensitivity, and image stabilization of this camera excite me. Is anyone else pumped up about this?
