The sleek and small Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS, with features slightly above entry level with a price to match, is a solid point-and-shoot digital camera.

Conclusion: We like it
If you must have the smallest point-and-shoot on the block — and still want to get decent pictures and videos — the Elph 300 HS is a good choice. The tiny camera's 5x lens zooms from a wide 24mm to 120mm, and it performs better than most subcompacts in low-light situations. While it lacks the manual controls of higher end (and slightly larger) cameras like Canon's PowerShot S100, this one's available for about $175, compared to the S100's $400 price tag. Think of it as an upgrade from your phone's camera that may weigh even less than your phone.

If you're looking for a nice, simple ultracompact for use indoors and out, you'll want to strongly consider the Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS.
Read the full review →The Canon PowerShot 300 HS is a very capable camera that captures 24mm wide-angle images, yet slips into a pocket with ease. Its 12-megapixel sensor doesn't quite deliver what last year's 12-megapixel CCDs did in terms of print size, but it still produces a big print, and captures Full HD video.

Read the full review →Overall, it's a really great camera for the price. I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a point-and-shoot.
Read the full review →I purchased this camera as a replacement for my wife's SD 1000, since this is its successor. The SD 1000 got a lot of use and when she opened this one, she had it running without my help and used it all night. It was a simple transition and the new slow-mo video mode was a huge hit in the end.
