I'm going to Sweden and Iceland this summer. I own the Nikon AW100 and plan on using it for most of my pictures and videos by purchasing another battery and bringing extra memory cards. Hey guys, I'm looking to get a DSLR in the $600-700 price range for Christmas, and it's very important that it can take good 1080p videos. So now I don't know wether I should go for the Nikon D5100 or the Canon 600D. Of course shooting still images is also very important. Any recommendations?
I'm looking towards the Canon T3i primarily for making videos on YouTube. I have a Canon Elph 300HS currently, and I was considering this for the next step up. I know that it's a very difficult question to answer A or B. Both have good things and in the end it will always depend on my decision. However, after reading a lot and seeing tons of videos, I still don't know which one to buy. The advantages of the Nikon seem to be:

I have an aging XSi currently - and don't get me wrong, it works beautifully for what I do, but I am considering upgrading to a newer DSLR for no particular reason.
