Which camera is right for me?
details
I'm a graphic designer, and looking for a good first camera. I've been looking at the DSLR camera's for a while but I don't know which is right for me. I honestly don't take pictures A LOT, but I believe if I had a camera I would use it. I also like shooting video and editing them. Camera's I've looked at: -- Canon EOS 550D Which camera fits my criteria?

Is there any routine maintenance I should be doing on my DSLR?
details
I've had this for about a year, it's my first DSLR. I was just curious if there was anything I needed to do as far as taking good care of it. Both my 18-55mm lens and 50mm pancake Canon lenses are starting to have issues autofocusing. I can still manual focus perfectly fine, but I noticed it takes quite a while to autofocus on both lenses, if it even does at all. Also my 50mm lens can't seem to focus on anything anymore. I try to adjust the focus and it only affects the actual lens' clarity by a...

Movie Lenses
details
I'm planning to use my T2i for some video projects soon, but I only have the standard, included 18-55mm lens (which isn't bad at all). I want a good movie lens that is pretty universal, so I can use it for all different kinds of shots. I want the zoom and focus to be smooth and quiet so my external mic doesn't pick it up.
I need to find the lowest prices for a lens that suits my needs because the price of the lens is the same amount of money I need to save up to buy it.

How to fix a corrupt .mov file
details
I'm using a RiDATA Lightning Series 32GB SDHC card, and I just imported my files, and the last two .mov files were corrupt when I looked at them on my computer. I don't want to pay for any software to fix it, because it is more inconvenient than disastrous.

Built in flash opens up but is not firing in low-light situations
details
I got the camera yesterday and was trying it out to just see the different settings. The flash was working fine and firing as it should. I turned the camera off for a bit, came back and all of sudden the flash would no longer fire. It pops up and registers it needs to use the flash but nothing happens. I tried resetting all the settings on the camera, removing the lens and re-adding, manually firing the flash but nothing happens. Am I missing a button or setting that may have disabled it... Downsizing from a Digital SLR
details
I have been shooting with the Canon EOS SLR system for several years now and have always been very happy with the cameras, lenses & accessories. However, my choice of activities while travelling now precludes lugging around large camera bags with various lenses and accessories or even just a single large SLR body and lens.
I had all but abandoned my trusty SLR and relegated it to the attic until recently when I took it on a recent trip and rediscovered my fondness for photography, so I have... Read more →

Why did you choose Canon/Nikon over the other?
details
I've narrowed my search for cameras down to the 550D or the D5100. I went through the reviews on DPReview and they both come very close to each other. They fit my needs and my budget perfectly so I'm ready to just order one of them. Before I do this though my last thing to check into is why someone might choose Nikon over Canon or the vice versa. For those of you who have used both or went through the same process why did you choose one over the other?

Is there a good external mic for Canon DSLRs? I fell in love with my T2i and it's video recording.
details
I'm getting better at manually focusing, my only problem is the internal mic. It picks up my focus and zoom scrolling to much. Also, my voice way overpowers my subject's too. I'm looking for a solution that I can mount on top of the body. I want to minimize focus noise and maximize subject recorsing. Anyone used anything for this?

There is a dead pixel in the bottom left corner of my rebel t2i's LCD screen. The red dot continues to show up on video and in some pictures.
details
I've cleaned the sensor with the clean sensor option in the menu and sometimes the pixel goes away and sometimes it doesn't. Now I can't get a change at all. I was wondering how normal this was and if I could fix it myself with a manual sensor clean (that I have no idea how to perform) or do I need to send it back for a new body.
