With the EOS 6D, Canon enters the market for affordable, full-frame DSLRs, taking on Nikon's on D600. As with Nikon's camera, Canon's big sensor captures enough light to take very good pictures in almost all lighting conditions, and it can take full advantage of old film SLR lenses . The 6D also includes some useful features you won't find on more expensive full-frame cameras, such as GPS and WiFi. PC Mag says the 6D offers "spectacular image quality" despite being "inexpensive for its class." TechCrunch concurs, saying the "image quality from this camera is phenomenal for the price" and adding that its WiFi connectivity is a "very useful addition." The camera does, however, have some limitations, including slightly slower autofocus and burst-modes compared to the D600, a less-than-perfect movie mode, and the lack of a popup flash, something the D600 includes. Even taking those limitations into account, TechRadar calls the 6D "an excellent choice for the enthusiast and club photographer looking for a full-frame DSLR."

...the Canon 6D is a thrilling, welcome addition to Canon’s line-up, at a price that, while still expensive, won’t break the bank for a photographer looking for the expanded composition capabilities of a full-frame sensor.

The EOS 6D doesn't offer the depth of features that its best competitors can, but it combines very good image quality, impressive high ISO performance and class-leading low light autofocus ability (with the central AF point) as well as impressive built-in Wi-Fi and GPS features.

Read the full review →Overall the EOS 6D is a mix of some heady highs mixed up with some minor disappointments that lead to its score slipping down the scale a smidgen. It's still a cracking DSLR, at a welcome price point, but it does have its work cut out when considering the competition.
Read the full review →The Canon EOS 6D is an attractive full-frame SLR (24 x 36 mm) that's light, responsive and pleasant to handle. Picture quality is excellent in both photo and video modes. Some of Canon's choices are may be questionable (no built-in flash, no swivel screen) but Wi-Fi and GPS bring new possibilities.

Read the full review →You’ll get top images from the Canon EOS 6D, of that there is no question, while you’ll also make a huge saving compared to the hugely popular Canon 5D Mark III if that’s still firmly beyond your means. It ticks all the boxes on the design, build and user-friendliness fronts too.

Read the full review →On paper the new Canon EOS 6D seems rather poorly specified compared to its main rival, the Nikon D600, and its big brother, the 5D Mark III, but in reality it proves to be a very capable DSLR that delivers outstanding pictures in both good and bad light.
