Everything on this body is like you's expect for the class and price, except the autofocus. It has almost the exact same system for AF that the original 5D had, which is to say adequate if you have great habits and are methodical about every shot. BTW, I am talking about shooting weddings with... Read the full review →

This is a professional body at a reasonable price. Image quality is impressive, but everything is not perfect either: AF could definitively be better. Read the full review →

This is a fantastic camera. works well in low light. works well in most situations. the auto focus is not the fastest. but quite accurate if using with a good lens. wish they had made it with a flash built in. while it is not a great to have a pop up flash. it would have been really handy for when I... Have never been so happy with a camera before. Moving up to Full Frame is amazing. The look you get in your photos and videos can't compare to a cropped sensor counter part. Slap the right lens on this and you'll never want to shoot with a cropped again. Low-light is awesome and the DOF is great! Read the full review →

A truly fantastic camera that has stood the test of time for a few years. Sensation 1080p video performance especially when used with fast L series lenses. The big firmware update allowing audio metering and 24P turned this camera from a very good full HD shooter into the industry standard for... Read the full review →

When you consider the price of the EOS-1Ds Mark III, the 5D Mark II seems like quite a bargain. Now we have to wait to see if the 5D Mark II (and the Nikon D90) are the start of the convergence of high end video and still photography cameras. But even if you never shoot video, and consider Live View to be a pointless novelty, the EOS 5D Mark II has an awful lot to recommend it to the serious photographer.
Overall we were much impressed with the 5D Mark II, which scored exceptionally well in our color and dynamic range testing, and produced excellent video quality (though without the level of control you'd expect from a dedicated camcorder). Less experienced photographers will be put off by the depth of controls and lack of training wheels (and we admit to wishing a pop-up flash was built in), but sophisticated users will prize the level of customizability and control offered by the 5D Mark II.
