With the EOS 5D Mark II, Canon has made some significant interface changes, upped the pixel count from 12 to 21 megapixels, improved the high ISO performance and expanded the ISO range, and added the ability to shoot high definition video. The result is a great camera made better.

With a sensor that's larger than those found in most digital cameras, the Canon 5D Mark II can take sharper pictures in low-light situations than most DSLRs (and can make better use of any old Canon film lenses you may have lying around). As a pro-level camera, it has a steeper learning curve than lower-end DSLRs, and you'll have to shell out extra cash for such niceties as a flash. With a successor model (the Mark III) recently launched, prices have dropped on the Mark II, though it will never be a bargain.

All things considered, the Canon EOS-5D Mark II is a very impressive digital SLR. For the Canon enthusiast who wants to step up to a full-frame body, it's an excellent choice. I'm not quite sure that it's the ideal camcorder replacement, due to the lack of continuous AF [in movie mode].
Read the full review →Although some aspects of the spec (AF, metering) are looking a little long in the tooth, the superb image quality and class-leading movie output should ensure the Mark II is as popular as its predecessor.
Read the full review →A great follow-up to the 5D and top-flight full-frame camera, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II delivers the fluid shooting experience and fine photos you expect from a professional model.
Read the full review →The full-frame, 21.1-megapixel Canon 5D Mark II is in many ways an exceptional camera, and truly groundbreaking when it comes to video recording, where it not only holds sway as the first SLR to offer full 1080p movies, but delivers exceptionally high-quality results in the process.
Read the full review →Ultimately, the 5D Mk II no longer has a single, conclusive advantage – it's going to have to rely on a combination of things, like its Live View, its HD movie mode and, perhaps most of all, its superb build, design and handling and the backup of Canon's extensive and long-established professional...
Read the full review →The EOS 5D Mark II adds up to a feature-rich package, and given the wealth of improvements over its predecessor, it seems almost churlish to complain the continuous shooting speed isn’t quicker, the viewfinder doesn’t offer 100% coverage and the AF system remains ... unchanged.
Read the full review →Not for the amateur. Your best results are if you thoroughly understand the technical side of photography.
Read the full review →Everything on this body is like you's expect for the class and price, except the autofocus. It has almost the exact same system for AF that the original 5D had, which is to say adequate if you have great habits and are methodical about every shot. BTW, I am talking about shooting weddings...
Read the full review →This is a professional body at a reasonable price. Image quality is impressive, but everything is not perfect either: AF could definitively be better.

Read the full review →This is a fantastic camera. works well in low light. works well in most situations. the auto focus is not the fastest. but quite accurate if using with a good lens. wish they had made it with a flash built in. while it is not a great to have a pop up flash. it would have been really handy for...
