The EOS 550D is something of a triumph. Shoot in RAW, invest in some decent back-up lenses and spend time studying the various exposure modes and options, and the EOS 550D will reward you with pro-quality images at a mass-market price. quote

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i pumps out beautiful pictures and boasts full-featured 1080p video recording options that were previously only available with D-SLRs twice its price.

Digital Photography Review Feb 8, 2010

All in all, the EOS 550D is the most compelling DSLR of its class that we've ever tested. Although the improvements that Canon has made over the EOS 500D aren't revolutionary, the 550D is a better camera than its predecessor. In terms of both still and video capture, the 550D is currently the best...

The T2i is the ideal first DSLR. The simple controls shouldn't intimidate you for long, plus it can hold your hand a decent bit of the way, thanks to clever innovations like the Creative Auto Mode.

The T2i is a great success and a great value. I know I’m biased as a Canon shooter, but I think it really is the best value on the market right now for an all-purpose imaging device. Stills are excellent, video is fun.

A great follow-up to the T1i, if you want the best photo and video quality in a dSLR for less than $1,000, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i is hard to beat.

Some might snort at the body only price that is just under £700 (and the kit we tested here is £1099), but considering that this camera will be a solid foundation for a number of years makes it look like better value for money.

The Canon T2i is the best entry level DSLR for people getting started into photography. It the step before getting into the more Semi-Pro models. It takes amazing 1080p video and great shots. It's a crop frame sensor but works with all L-range lenses.

Best entry-level DSLR / amazing HD video camera. With a 50mm f/1.4 lens, a 55-250mm telephoto lens, and the standard lens that comes with it, I have what I need plus a few add-ons like a rode shotgun mic and a battery grip. Absolutely love this camera. The negative: durability. The build...

Canon did a really great job in this camera. Noise is unnoticeable till you reach ISO 3200 and still image quality is totally acceptable at that range with some post processing. Camera feels really good in your hands and it has all the features you need for a midrange/entry level DSLR.
