Best way to shoot HDR with the T1i.
details
I would like to start shooting HDR pictures but my problem is that it seems slow to shoot a picture at -2 then 0 then +2 as the scene could change. Is there a way to do this faster or do I just need to get faster at switching? Also software to use on the Mac. I'm not a pro but I do use Aperture 3 for everything I do with pictures. Photomatrix looks good but as a student it is a bit on the steep side for software I don't know if I will use or not. Any info would be great. My pictures...

Thinking of getting the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
details
Is getting the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM a wast if all I own in the T1i? I was going to get it or the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II to take with me to the North American International Auto Show next weekend. Would love some help as I will need to order the lens soon if I go with the EF 50mmF/1.8 as it has 5 day shipping where the F/1.4 is free two day.

Not sure how many combo packages kits .. whatever they are called I'll be presented with. Heck I don't know the first thing about lenses. I don't want to end up with a bunk lens or anything. That said is there anything I should be concerned about before I fork over my do ray me ?

Just ordered one, what should I know?
details
So where should I start? Think of me as a newb as far as high-quality digital photography is concerned, although one with a good knowledge of photo-processing, etc. I know that this is a pretty bold question, but I want to see what kind of direction I can get from the community here. Where did you start when you got your first digital SLR? I'm all ears!

Get a monopod!
details
I love the video capability of the T1i, but most of my lenses don't have image stabilization. My walkaround lens is a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, which takes fantastic stills, but is very shaky for video. I have a tripod, but I wanted something more portable and movable when I'm in the field. And I couldn't afford to get the image stabilized version of the lens. Enter the monopod. I got a Giottos monopod with a quick release tilt head (a must, don't bother with the monopods without a... Read more →

memory cards and accessory recommendations
details
My camera is on its way to me :D. A few questions... Is it better to get 32gb sdhc cards or several cards at smaller sizes? Does it affect the speed at which I can click my pics? What is the max filesize a pic could be on this camera, and how many gb is say 1min of video at 30fps/720p? Also, is there any particular everyday case anyone is totally in love with? The thread on lenses was really helpful to me, so if anyone could share their thoughts on the accessory side, it would be much...

What Are The Best Lenes For A Newbie?
details
Hey, Just picked up the T1i as my first DSLR, and am loving it. It came with the 18-55mm kit lens, but I also got talked into buying the EF-S 55-250mm zoom lens. I don't have a lot of spare cash for extra lens, but are those two a good mix for a beginner? I could always return the 55-250mm, paid about $300 for it.

Canon DSLR HD video quality – The dirty little secret
details
The general consensus seems to be that the video quality of the 500D/Rebel T1i/Kiss x3 is no less than fantastic. And it can be, under the right circumstances, but there are significant hardware and software limitations in the camera you need to know about to get the most out of your video shooting session. The biggest limitation I see is the way the frames are downsampled from the native sensor resolution to the video resolution: It seems that to form 720p video, around three out of four... Read more →

is this the ideal DSLR for the money?
details
I am looking at my first DSLR. I am having trouble deciding exactly which to buy, but have been looking at this one seriously. I want one that has a lot of features, that works with most lenses, etc. I want to spend around $1000 for at least the camera and two lenses. This comes in at about $800 right now with a 15-55mm lens, so I will have a little something left for another lens. Is this the right choice? Should I wait for new releases or black friday price drops? Thanks in advance!

Is HD video recording really worth it?
details
Looking at the low price point of the 450D, i am now seriously thinking of getting it over the 500D. Other than the increased megapixels and the half-baked HD video recording capability, I don't see much of a difference between the two. Of course, you could list other improvements too, but that wouldn't necessarily mean improvement on the overall image quality, right? Can you guys tell me why should I buy this over the 450D?

EOS Digital Rebel T1i 1080p Video
details
I was wondering if the T1i would be good for High School football and how well the 1080p Video is on it. This will be used to shoot my brothers senior year football which will mostly be night games so low light performance does matter and right now I have the S3IS and the S5IS but cannot afford the 5D Mark II so I thought this might be the next best thing for under 1K. Any thoughts from actual users would be appreciated. Also a lens that would do well in low light and fast action would be nice... Read more →
