The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM barely juts out from your camera, but is capable of capturing some impressive images.

It's impressive what Canon has managed to pack into a very small package here. Excellent results for sharpness, CA and distortion, and only some corner shading when used wide open on full-frame - which you could call the "character" of this lens. For the price, it's well worth the money.

The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM may not be perfect but that's whining on a very high level. So if you can make sense of the lens' focal length and max. aperture we can certainly recommend it highly!

I'm really happy with this lens. The images are notably crisper than the 50mm 1.8. The only weakness it really has is low light situations but it's a 2.8 so that's expected.
