What say y'all about the future of the Powershot G line? I had been expecting the launch/announcement back in September after passing on the G12. Now September has passed, I'm starting to wonder what happened.
If they do decide to continue the line (which I very much hope they do), I'm kinda hoping at the very least for the following features: - CMOS sensor - Electronic viewfinder - Better wide-angle (at least 24mm?) - Wider aperture (at leat f2.0?)
However, some noise is present even in moderately well-lit shots, but only really noticeable when the images are enlarged. The ability to zoom while recording video is a long-wished for feature in point and shoots. The motor has a slower, quieter mode of operation while recording. The digital age came and I put down my camera and was unhappy with point and shoots generally... but suffered through my first canon SD and then got excited about my second that shot 720p video... then i wanted to take pictures for real... my buddy sold me this and there were 3 things I miss but can live without. 1)Live view on the LCD 2)Video mode. Still a solid camera and god did I miss this form factor.
easy to use with so many setting for a Pro in compare to panasonic LX5 (i intent to buy it)..but i take S95 it is more compact and cheaper but not good quality for shooting clips of movie.. for a pro user looking for best quality image it is the best choice
I got it to fit easily in my pocket when I don't want to carry my SLR, but since I bought it in 2009-ish, phone cameras have really come close to the quality of this thing. To be fair though, this camera does shoot video and not just the 30 second mini clip you get on a lot of phones. --It's not HD though. Haven't bought a camera since, but I definitely plan to. It took good quality photos but was definitely bulky. It also runs on AA batteries. Horrible battery life.
Just rooted my old IXUS 70 using the ROM from http://chdk.wikia.com - now my camera shoots RAW, and lets me zoom while shooting video! Awesome new features. Install is not for the feinthearted though, and may void the warranty. But hey, it's out of warranty anyway, right? Big ups to the CHDK guys.
It's about time to look at a trade up from the original 5D to the MKii ... what do you think is a reasonable asking price if I'm trying to sell the old girl to make some money to fund the new purchase? It's in good condition - I've babied it over the last three years I've owned it. Three extra batteries ... all the stuff that came in the box, body only. Also, I totally understand I'm a generation behind, but given the price points, I'm happy to live in the lag.
I'm looking into getting my first DSLR and I'm trying to pick out which camera to go with. While features are nice, I don't need a surplus of camera features that I will never use. At this point, just enough features to take nice pics with, and to take advantage of what I do have.
Naturally, I'm looking at Nikon and Canon, but still am not sure which of those to go with. Any recommendations?
I'm not a professional photographer, but I am thoroughly enjoying taking photographs and have found the Canon 50mm f/1.4 to be a joy to use. I'm quite interested in the 85mm prime but the mid-range lens, the f/1.8 doesn't offer the same sort of aperture to be found on the 50mm. Is it worth the extra cash to go for the L series f/1.2 lens. My lens broke and I have considered upgrading my Rebel XT with the Rebel T3 or possibly the T1i.
The standard kit lens 18-55, is around $150. The thing is the T3 but it's down to $420 on Amazon, a complete steal. I want to eventually move up to a more professional SLR but I am a senior in college with a very limited budget.
By quality, i mean actual *print* quality doesn't have to be great. I don't print often, and when I do print, its like a concert ticket or something that still requires paper proof. Ideally, I'd like a printer that is the size of the Neat Company's single document scanner. Even if it only printed black and one sheet at a time, then I could store it. People have very different opinions on what the best all around lens is for a DSLR. What do you think? What lens would you choose if you could only have one? For myself, I'd go with a 50mm prime (80mm prime when converted to full frame), or Canon's 24-105mm L lens that I wish I owned (http://gdgt.com/canon/ef/24-105mm/f4l-is-usm/). Pretty sure I'm going to get the T2i, mostly for video recording. But now I'm torn between buying it with the 18-55mm kit lens, or buying the body and a 50mm 1.8 lens separately (as I've heard its great for video). Thoughts?
My old inexpensive Canon 8400F was a great scanner — flatbed for paper, negative holder for film, and it also had software that let it double as a copier. It only did 4800dpi, but that's enough for my needs.
But the drivers aren't Lion compatible, so I'm shopping for a replacement. And the major scanners like the Epson V700 are expensive, in the $500 range. Any bargains out there?
So I've been mulling over this for some time. My NEX-5, which is my only interchangeable-lens camera at the moment, is decent. I've narrowed my search for cameras down to the 550D or the D5100. I went through the reviews on DPReview and they both come very close to each other. They fit my needs and my budget perfectly so I'm ready to just order one of them. Before I do this though my last thing to check into is why someone might choose Nikon over Canon or the vice versa.
