Detailed review
These things are very expensive, no doubt. But the sound is so precise and clear, that it is probably just about worth it, if you are a perfectionist :) Despite their size the speakers sound amazingly balanced. Although it is not a 'big' sound like a set of full-sized hi-fi speakers, they have a detail and warmth that is startling.
Before I got these I tried B&W's Zeppelin Air which people also rave about. But I had a real problem with it - because it's a one piece unit there is almost no stereo separation. So you really are spending all that money for a clever iPod dock. The MM1s have a much more rounded audio experience, with real stereo. But you do have to be sitting right in front of them to get the best of them.
