The bottom line: While they're no bargain, the Bose QuietComfort 15s currently offer the best sound and silencing capabilities in a pair of noise-canceling headphones.

Most people looking for noise-canceling headphones want to block out the rumble of a 737's engine or the endless drone of a subway car. In this regard, the QC15 can't be beat. That it also offers high quality, if not astounding, audio performance is a bonus.

Admittedly, I'm a Bose fanboy. I use both the noise canceling headphones when I travel and the earbuds when I commute. The noise cancelling headphones have superior sound quality with deep, rich bass as well as solid highs. The noise cancellation is top notch as well, easily besting other...
