If small size, looks and clarity of music are your primary goals from a pair of speakers for your computer, then Bose CMM should be your No. 1 pick. Now for me, it’s time to rock!

Overall, it’s hard to recommend these given their high price and lack of versatility. The main thing they have going for them is their tiny size, which Bose seems to think will appeal to laptop and desktop users alike.

The tiny Bose MusicMonitor computer speakers are ideal for buyers who need the smallest possible speakers, but you can find better-sounding--albeit much larger--alternatives at this price.

The Computer MusicMonitor has a pleasant, crisp delivery but lacks bass presence and costs a whopping $400. Bose should at least add some extra features to the remote to justify the high price.

As an upgrade to laptop speakers, the Bose Computer MusicMonitors will do nicely. They're compact, good looking, well built and relatively portable -- if you don't mind toting the power brick around. But they are very expensive.

Overall, the Computer MusicMonitor is an excellent performer. Bass was always going to be a problem with small speakers, but the Bose managed rather admirably. The only thing that stopped us from giving our full recommendation is its rather astronomical price-tag.
