The BodyMedia Fit Link takes a holistic approach, factoring not just what goes out, but what goes in to your body, too. We really like its body-hugging design and extra-long battery life. We wish that it didn't require a subscription to use, and our other annoyances, while minor, add up over time.

The BodyMedia Fit Link armband can track how many calories you burn each day, along with other key fitness metrics like steps walked, and then wirelessly upload it to BodyMedia's web site, where you can set and track your fitness goals. There are also companion apps for iOS and Android, so your fitness data is always accessible. However, unlike similar services bundled with devices like the gdgt Must-have Fitbit Ultra, BodyMedia charges a monthly subscription (currently $7) to access the web site and use the mobile apps. That makes the Fit Link a less attractive option, especially since its upfront cost is higher than the Fitbit.

If you're an active person, the $260 is burning a hole in your pocket, you love to set and beat personal goals on a regular basis, and you like to see the cold, hard data to go along with it, then this may just be the device for you.
