Sadly, this isn’t the tablet to break the Apple stranglehold. There’s no 3G option presently, the screen falls a little short and there just isn’t enough here in terms of high-level apps and functionality to make this a smart choice over the similarly priced iPad 2. quote

Right now, the BlackBerry PlayBook is a tablet that will come close to satisfying those users who gravitate toward the first word in its name: BlackBerry. Those who were more excited about the "play" part would be well advised to look elsewhere.

Overall, the features provided by PlayBook OS 2.0 are a welcome update for any BlackBerry PlayBook user. . . . Is the PlayBook going to take a big bite out of the tablet market? Probably not, but then, few have.

It’s a well-constructed device with great media-viewing capabilities, solid hardware specs and a price on par with the current tablet market. But with serious gaps in key areas like app selection and Flash stability, you may want to think twice before picking one up.

The PlayBook is well built, has masses of potential, but it’s not quite there yet. ... Ultimately, it’s early days for the PlayBook, if RIM can live up to their promises this is one tablet that could be the main set for businesses everywhere.

Unfortunately there still too many rough edges for us to comprehensively recommend the PlayBook – or, indeed, for it to entirely take on the iPad 2 as RIM might hope.

Our final verdict is: wait and see. If the apps trickle in and RIM continues to support the platform, the device has the makings of a solid business tablet. It might all work out in the end. For now, the PlayBook is a faint glimmer of things to come.

This is the best of two worlds. It has what I need, and with HTML 5 app support, I was able to quickly build some simple apps. Now working on more complex application. It feels better built than anything I have handled so far. The problem I had with larger tablets, was the carrying of it. In a...

As the owner of a BlackBerry phone I rate this device very high, since it acts as a kind of extension to your phone in addition to a stand-alone tablet. That "extension" comes into play with the "bridged apps", which is where things like Email and Calendar come from. Of course, you can also...

I decided on this tablet as a last minute Christmas gift during the fire sale that was offered by a name brand electronics store toward the end of December. Yes I read the reviews about how the tablet was good but wasn't "ready for prime time" blah blah but with competing models running more than...

I mainly bought this to use at the gym while doing cardio. The 10" iPad is too big and the 3.5" iPhone is too small. Perhaps I am very familiar with the IOS, but the touch screen on the PlayBook is difficult. A friend of mine that has no Apple products has difficulty with the PlayBook touch...

The Playbook is an exceptional tablet. I've tried iPads and Android tablets, but none of them combined the high quality, portability, and ease of use that I get from the Playbook. I love the portability provided by the Playbook's 7" form factor. While it gives up some screen real estate when...

Had mine since April 11 and already liked it then, even though it had a couple of gaps. Fast forward to now and I absolutely love it. I get so much joy from this tablet, from the apps I use (yes, there are less than my Ipad, but I have most of what I need, even without the pending Android apps...

This is a phenomenal device, but only if you have the right setup. I think averaged ratings don't do a device like this justice. For some, this device strikes me as a 4/4.5; for others, it's more like a 2. Here's why: 1.) BB Tethering Unlike the iPad, this generation of Playbook does not...
