A tremendously effective messaging phone, the 8800 adds a trackball and music player to the traditional Blackberry form factor. But the lack of 3G high-speed wireless will be an issue for Web surfers and laptop modem users.

Despite some minor issues, the RIM BlackBerry 8800 offers mobile professionals a well-rounded smart phone with added multimedia functions, GPS, and push-to-talk capabilities. That said, messaging remains its forte.

The email is the only thing that is even remotely good about it. And even then, I hate that it forces you to either copy the entire message into a reply or have nothing at all. Forget infix quoting. And I'm not really sure if it works as well when you don't have a Blackberry Enterprise...

The Blackberry 8800 series are most definitely a business tool. The phone is labeled the World Edition and it works great abroad. You get fast response from the Blackberry OS, good voice call quality, and has capability to install many apps. The battery life on this devices seems to go forever...
