Are you having WiFi problems with the Nook Simple Touch after the 1.1.0 upgrade?
details
My Nook was doing just fine until Wednesday evening, when I was inside a B&N store and it wouldn't connect to the in-store WiFi. The girl behind the Nook counter simply restarted the Nook and it connected just fine, but today I am having the same problem again, and no amount of restarting seems to be doing any good.
Checking the Nook site, two bits of information became apparent:
  1. Many other Nook users are having this problem, see the thread here:...

How do you lock the nook Simple Touch Reader?
details
I know how to unlock the NOOK, but what still eludes me is how to lock the screen so random touches don't activate it when I'm not using it. As it stands, I have to just wait for the lock/screensaver to just kick in automatically (the shortest period of time you can set that for is five minutes). This is a problem when I'm traveling and put the nook in my bag, where even the fabric can activate the screen, flipping pages and changing the font display options. I've checked the NOOK User Guide,... Read more →

What is the best ereader to use outside US?
details
After the presentation of new Kindle serie ereaders I am thinking about which ereader I should buy. I am considering mainly format support, price and usability outside US as I live in Brazil. Is ePub format support a killing feature or may I consider the format conversion an easy option? Does Kobo and Nook work outside US?

What are the advantages of the Kindle Touch over the Nook Simple Touch Reader?
details
In addition to the Kindle Fire, Amazon also announced a touch screen ebook reader. This pits them directly against Barnes & Noble's own touch screen ebook reader, the Nook Simple Touch.

Now that Amazon has their own touch screen ebook reader, what are the advantages or disadvantages of this over Barnes & Noble's version?

What handles PDFs better - Nook or Kindle?
details
I'm seriously considering getting an e-reader lately, mostly because I've built up quite a collection of e-books that I'd actually like to start reading. I'm currently torn between the Nook and the Kindle, mostly by format. I know that getting a Kindle won't do me much good for my ePub files or getting books from the library (only for now though, since Amazon has announced it will get library lending by the end of the year), while getting a Nook won't allow me to read any of the (free) books... How can I use Adobe Digital Editions with my nook simple touch?
details
To make a long story short, just bought my first dedicated eReading device: the second generation nook. I had a Borders gift card that I needed to use ASAP (they're going out of business in case you hadn't heard) so I bought a pair of novels in the Kobo store. As it so happens, Kobo's pretty cool about loading these books on other devices: the company basically gives you the ability to download them as protected ePubs and then load them on through Adobe DRM and Digital Edition software. I've... Read more →

Nook or Kindle or iBooks
details
Okay, so I wanted to know everybody's opinion on what I should do about eBooks. Recently I have been reading books through iBooks, but by the time I go to read a book at night my eyes are pretty tired, plus my iPad has fallen and hit me in the nose too many times now. I'm thinking about switching over to the Nook ecosystem because of their nice software and appealing hardware. I know Amazon is in more places, but right now it feels like the Nook software and hardware situation is better if I... Read more →

Will the next Kindle just be a tablet?
details
We have been hearing rumors of the Kindle tablet for a couple of months now. August is approaching when the last Kindle came out and people are expecting a Kindle refresh in light of the Kobo Touch and Kindle 2. Question is though is the next Kindle just going to be a tablet with no refresh on the current eink one? Will we just see the eink Kindle drop to $99 or something or are people expecting an new eink device from Amazon?

E-readers...New Nook or Kindle 3?
details
I've been sizing up and comparing the latest and greatest e-readers...specifically the new small touchscreen Nook and the Kindle 3. I'd like to hear some real honest GDGT folks' opinions! What I like about the new Nook is size and simplicity, being able to checkout content from my local library seems to be nice. What I like about the Kindle 3 is being able to read blogs, use the web when needed, and the fact that I already use Kindle software on PC's and mobile devices...familiarity I guess.
