Detailed review
I was apprehensive about jumping into e-book readers after the lukewarm reception that the nook received when it was released. I went to a Barnes and Noble to play with one and found the experience to be "not awful".
Last week, I bit the bullet and ordered one, deciding that the nook met my needs as a reader, but also gave me the ability to load PDF's and additional content through sideloading.
All I can say now is that I am so happy that I bought it. I have been reading on it for the last several days, and it has been a very enjoyable experience. I can understand the people who complain about the touchscreen not being very responsive, and as an iPhone user, I would have to agree. But there's also something about it's kinda slow responsiveness that makes me take my time. Using the whole thing is a sort of leisurely experience that doesn't need to be rushed. I'm reading a book to relax, not move as quickly as possible and have a highly responsive touchscreen like on my phone.
I know some will say that this is a cop out, and that I'm making a concession for a poor technology, but it's just my opinion. I like that the pages turn a little slow, I find the overall experience to be very pleasurable and relaxing.
I'm thrilled to be reading on it, and am sure that I am going to be a happy nook owner for a long time,.... :)
