As far as the actual Link device goes, there's not much to say about it. ... What's interesting is what's inside; it has an accelerometer which is useful for detecting those sudden movements, and Bluetooth 4.0, which is used to transmit a set of data to your smartphone.

Automatic is a Smart Driving Assistant that can save you money on gas, remember where you parked, and even call for help in a crash. The Link plugs into the OBD II port on your car, receiving data from the auto computer and transmitting it via Bluetooth 4.0 to the Automatic app on your iPhone 4S or 5.

At the end of each week, Automatic compiles all of this data via the app and assigns a driving score. At the end of each trip, the app also compares your fuel economy with the EPA estimated values for your particular vehicle and lets you know how much the trip cost you using real-time fuel prices.
