Asus' K53E may not be as sleek as the company's Zenbook Ultrabooks, but it's a lot cheaper, and is a solid, well-built, middle-of-the-road laptop that will meet most business and entertainment computing needs. While it lacks USB 3.0, it includes HDMI and VGI out, a comfortable keyboard, and a decent 15.6-inch display. At a weight of close to 6 pounds, you the K53E isn't a very good traveling companion, but will work well as an affordable desktop replacement in a home office or dorm room.
