Conclusion: We like it
With a 17-inch display and a weight of almost 10 pounds, the Asus G74SX may strain the definition of portability. However, those specs aren't out of line for a gaming laptop, and the G74SX's starting price of $1,800 puts it on par with other midrange portable gaming rigs. That price will get you a backlit keyboard, full 1080p video, a quad-core Intel Core i7processor, and the ability to play most modern games at high graphics settings. For better gaming performance, you'll need to spend more, or forgo portability and get a desktop model.

Asus has built a very nice sideline over the years with its gaming laptops, including the G74SX, which is a strong, if expensive, quad-core rig that works fine, but looks like it should cost less.
